And they wonder why no one buys their "art". the sad thing is in many cases there is real talent there. but tthey seem to have an almost kneejerk aversion to producing anything that is lovely to look at.
Case in point Robert Mapplethorpe(he of the bulllwhip in the butt), he made a series of photos of calla-lillies that are just...wonderful.

"No one" buys their art because who can afford $25,000 for what they do?

Corporations and foundations.
And with that kind of a price tag they still get federal tax dollar through the NEA.
