Hook, along with Winston Cup Series NASCAR drivers Jerry Nadeau and Geoff Bodine, Raybestos Northwest Busch Series driver Gary Lewis and U.S. Army sponsored National Hot Rod Association Top Fuel dragster pilot Tony Schumacher spent the holiday touring military bases in Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kuwait.
