Good grief

Does it really matter? Frankly I wouldn't give a damn if the man in the foxhole with me was blue and painted his ass yellow. We are ALL green when it comes to being American Fighting men. The color of our skin doesn't make a tinkers damn so long as we can depend on one another. In the years I spent in the Corps I learned alot about my fellow Marines.

We are all green and all Marines.

They need to stuff this racial crap where the sun don't shine and quit trying to divide us.

Americans, one and all

There's a huge minority population in Support fields and very much less so in the combat and Spec Ops.

I don't know why but this is a fact.

”We are all green and all Marines. ”

On the parade ground as a new PFC managing a transient platoon of washed out recruits, I was discretely called over by a passing DI who overheard me referring to on as a “dark green Marine” LOL! He advised me to lose that phrase. It was cool, I didn’t know any better, just repeating what my DIs used to say.

Another extremist voices his opinion. I refer of course to the Clinton era when Marines were called extremist by a female Undersecretary of the Army. Her name escapes me.

When I was in the Navy, there were a very few racial incidents (for my 6 year enlistment, I saw 3 maybe). When you're on a ship at sea or a soldier in the field, who has time to worry about that crap? Guys don't go out with the attitude, "I'm not going to do what the Lieutenant says because he's black/white/Japanese/Mexican." As a soldier, that's a real great attitude--if you want to die.

The news media likes to try to create a story that the military is full of racial pain, strife, and bigotry. But those stories never stick. It's good to see a truthful story from USA Today.
