A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos) 1/20/03

President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush left the White House this morning to go to Landover, Maryland, where the President, joined by Condoleezza Rice, spoke to the congregation of First Baptist Church of Glenarden on the anniversary honoring slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. He was welcomed warmly and given a standing ovation by the congregation, and spoke from his heart of the prejudice still holding people back, and the need for healing the hurt and hopelessness that still exist . On Sunday, the President announced his proposal to increase spending to historically black and Hispanic colleges, and universities by 5%. Enjoy your Daily Dose of Dubya!!

I saw a story on CNN today where they were using that mastectomy story to attack Dubya on malpractice suit caps! <<

Of course making this horrible medical error public within days of the day the President speaks publicly about his plan for malpractice lawsuit reform is just a coincidence! What do you think?

I agree. These are some very special pictures today!

I think that's because the President was so comfortable, and at home at this house of worship, and it really shows.

btw, welcome to the Dose! (Are you new, or have I just missed you?)

I tuned in to watch President Bush at the church and C-span turns to a peace documentary. I kept waiting and finally I went to change clothes and the president was done talking. How long was his speech? And I agree with ya--Cspan could have had the whole ceremony.

To quote from the interview-"Its been 7 months since this procedure" VERY convienent. heres a link:
http://www.cnn.com/2003/HEALTH/01/20/cnna.mastectomy.mistake/index.html
Its very pointedly against the President, I wonder if they were paid by someone perhaps to come forward with this tragedy? I feel sorry for the woman, but they are being used yet again.

This morning I woke up to the radio (our alarm clock) and it was CNN News. I thought, "oh geez...this is gonna be bad" and lo and behold they opened with W giving his sermon at this baptist church. It was great. I just stayed in bed and listened, chuckled a little and then shut off the radio. W always sounds so great when speaking from the pulpit. He appears to be so completely comfortable. He is a natural for a preacher!

Laura looks stunning in the photos today. I really like her suit and Condi is a knock out as well.

We need to ACT!!

I am so proud of the DC Freepers who made the time, took the initiative and ACTED on behalf of our country, our president and our military!

What were the rest of us doing?!

Well, I asked myself this question and decided that I certainly need(ed) to SOMETHING. Accordingly, I devoted MANY hours this weekend and today e-mailing and calling various reporters/news organizations relative to the following topics:

1.) The President's current approval ratings and the liberal media's frenzy to spin these numbers as negatively as possible!

Sample e-mail on this topic:

Mr Brokaw:

Why did it take a columnist from USAToday to provide an intelligent analysis of the President's current approval/favorability ratings? I expected more from you and the rest of the NBC News team!!!!

[FYI: Recent GWB FAVORABILITY RATINGS from Zogby and Pew Research serve to underscore Benedetto's thesis.
Pew: http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=170]

I certainly hope you follow Benedetto's lead SOON -- NBC News/MSNBC viewers are entitled to UNBIASED poll analysis!!!

Posted 1/19/2003 2:12 PM Approval polls don't tell whole Bush story

WASHINGTON — President Bush touched off a firestorm of criticism from congressional Democrats, civil rights groups and newspaper editorialists Wednesday when he decided to intervene in a Supreme Court case challenging racial preferences in University of Michigan admissions policy.

The howls of protest were quick and loud, and the news media played them to a fare-thee-well. Judging from the noise, one might conclude that this president is in big political trouble as he looks to re-election in 2004.

After all, with public uncertainty about the economy, the possibility of war with Iraq, increased tensions with North Korea dominating the headlines, and Democrats hurling brickbats at Bush for everything from his economic stimulus plan that they say favors the rich to what they see as his abandonment of minorities by opposing the Michigan case, he would appear to be poised on the brink of political disaster.

But is he? Not yet. His standing with the public is stronger than outward poll numbers suggest.

2.) The media's refusal to ACCURATELY identify the sponsorship of and participants in the ANTI-AMERICA demonstrations this past weekend!

Sample e-mail on this topic:

Mr. Brokaw:

Why do you refuse to identify the anti-America (aka, anti-war) protesters for who and what they are? Why do you force viewers like me to search the blogosphere for the TRUTH?!

Give me FACTS not DNC talking points!!

America Under Siege
By David Horowitz
FrontPageMagazine.com | January 20, 2003

America's enemies within turned out in force on Saturday in Washington DC and San Francisco under the auspicies of the Communist Workers World Party operating under its front organization, A.N.S.W.E.R. Once again the demonstrators pretended to be peace activists, who found violence abhorrent and a willing media played along with the charade. Neither the New York Times nor the Los Angeles Times nor any media I saw identified the organizers as Communists who have a long record of support for world terror and its leaders including the Ayatollah Khomeini, Kim Jong Il, Slobodan Milosevic and Saddam Hussein.

As reported by the unfiltered cameras of C-Span, the pretense, in fact, was pretty thin. One of the featured speakers was a spokesman for the narco-terrorists in Colombia who opened his rant (all the speeches fell into this category) with, "We have to stop America's war against the people of Iraq, and the people of Palestine, Colombia and the world." America is supporting the government of Colombia against a brutal communist guerrilla force that has been waging civil war there for half a century. Come to think of it, America's enemies in Palestine are the terrorist organizations Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the al-Aksa Martyrs terrorist brigade. And in Iraq, there is a dictator who has slaughtered hundreds of thousands of his own people and has attempted to swallow the country of Kuwait. The spokesman for the Colombian narco-terrorists was quite candid (and why not, since he knows that the American media will present him as a "peace activist" anyway). "As revolutionaries," he said to the crowd, "as progressives, we have to resist American imperialism."

Then came Imam Mussa from the mosque Masjid al-Islam,. Like most of the cast assembled by A.N.S.W.E.R. the Imam had also been a speaker at the Millions For Reparations March last August -- which was more about denouncing America as a racist, imperalist monster than making a case for compensation for any specific injustices (See my report, "Reparations Buffoons On The Washington Mall."). Here is a sample of the rhetoric at that March from Malik Zulu Shabazz (one of the few who was not at the "peace" event): "The President wants to talk about a terrorist named bin Laden. I don't want to talk about bin Laden. I want to talk about a terrorist called George Washington. I want to talk about a terrorist called Rudy Guiliani. The real terrorists have always been the United Snakes of America."

When he got going, the Imam Mussa dotted the i's and crossed any t's that the narco-terrorist spokesman had missed, telling the crowd that the regime change they wanted was in Washington not Bagdhad, and that they really didn't want a regime change at all. "We 're calling for a System change," he said. Revolution. "We won't get any justice as long as that criminal Congress is up there. We're calling for revolution. It's revolution time, brothers and sisters. We have to get rid of greedy murderers and imperialists like George Bush in the White House." The Imam then led the crowd -- are you ready for this -- in the chant the suicide bombers use as they blow up innocent men, women and children -- Allahu Ahkbar! Allahu Ahkbar! Allahu Akhbar

[NOTE: I mentioned the blogosphere because I know it drives the network types absolutely CRAZY!]

I strongly encourage each of you to contact various media outlets as well. WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE --I know for a fact that a call I made last week helped prompt Benedetto's article. Calls and e-mails DO influence the behavior (and story choices) of editors, producers and writers!!

I'll post e-mail addresses shortly!
