Instead of punishing law abiding citizens by taking away thier 2nd amendment rights, I think gun safety and respect should be taught. That is my opinion. You'll get no argument from me, Pippin! I agree wholeheartedly.
While I am not allowed to be armed where I work as well, I still carry concealed every place else that I go. I have reached the point to where I feel "naked" (and vulnerable) without it!

Hmmm, You've just given me an idea. But I need to learn how to handle and shoot a gun as well as how to handle it.

BTW...we're the same height. :)It's both a blessing and a hardship, wouldn't you say?....sometimes it's near to impossible to find women's slacks in a 34" inseam!

But I need to learn how to handle and shoot a gun as well as how to handle it.Find someone you know and trust who has this knowledge and can share it with you. Also, if there is an indoor gun range nearby, many of the people who work there are qualified to instruct. You would have the benefit of having an array of guns to choose from that you could rent to try out. That way you would know what suited you the best.
But, the important thing is to start with the help and experience of someone else.

Don't get me started on clothes not being made for tall women. The clothing industry makes Petite sizes and Women's (large) sizes but ignore the Tall woman. Never could understand it...they use tall women to model their clothes so they know we're out here. Guess it's some sort of discrimination. :)

Theres two places that you can order tall sizes...Penney's and Lands End's catalogs. Don't know what I'd do without them.

heheheheh....love that smiley graphic!
Thankfully, many manufacturers are now making women's jeans in "long." Previously, I would have to wear men's. Dress pants are another story, though. If I "scour" Ross, Marshall's and TJ Maxx, I usually can find dress slacks in a "long" length.
Thanks for the "leads", though! :-)

RIGHT ON!!
I live in DC though. I could buy the book, but in DC I am not allowed to carry a gun. AG Ashcroft is working on that, though.

And that's precisely the reason DC is one of the highest-ranking cities for violent crimes.
I hope Ashcroft is able to get that changed.
Right here in GA, there is a town called Kennesaw that John Lott cites in his book, "More Guns Less Crime." The mayor of Kennesaw, back in the '70's, decided to make it a mandatory law that all households MUST have a gun! The burglary and assault rate in that town went DOWN by leaps and bounds, even as the population grew exponentially.

The city I live in is unbelievably dangerous. Only the criminals have guns. That's what's happening in Great Britain since they outlawed gun ownership. The gun-grabbers will never admit to it though. Better for them to make up lies and statistics that can't be proven!
