Sharing this mother lode of information with leadership or the general public would be in the best interest for all, including Bush, wouldn't it?

I am inclined to believe he did inform Blair, as Tony came on board real big real fast, and Blair would have no reason to go hawkish just "to make nice" with Bush. I get the impression GWB trusts him explicitly, unlike my Prime Minister who is an absolute moron that couldn't be trusted with the time of day.

As for the public, I'm reminded of something Stormin' Norman said after the Guf War. He claimed that Saddam missed a chance to hurt the U.S. when the initial build up was happening. He said that if Saddam had attacked Saudi Arabia right after the build up started he would have faced a U.S. force of around only 20K troops, not a large bulkwark against what was then a very big Iraqi force. He called the fact that Saddam didn't attack the biggest bit of "luck" the American forces had. Well, Saddam isn't the brightest bulb on the tree but this is a mistake he would not likely make a second time. I truly believe that Bush and his people were working from the assumption that if Saddam knew that Bush had him dead to rights Saddam would have made the calculation that it was better to act premptively rather than wait for the Americans to attack. This would explain his belief that if he could drag the start of the war out long enough the allies would lose all desire to go in. Again, if he knew Bush had info that painted him as one of the biggest monsters of our age it would be clear that the game was up so he would have taken the initiative, either against U.S. forces in the region or Israel.

As it is, I feel we're entering a very dangerous period. Once we "find" a few more things, and start finding them at an increasingly rapid rate, Saddam will figure out Bush has him dead to rights and he'll unchain his dogs. As I said earlier, I expect the terrorism activities against Israel to start ramping up again shortly. He WILL try to make mischief to attempt to "change the subject."

Bottom line: Sometimes it's best for the general population NOT know everything the President and his closest advisors do. Face it, there are a lot of American lives at stake, to say nothing of those of others in the region, formal allies of ours or not.

Got to go (home), but I'll check back in a little later. Thanks all for the great thread!

Speaking of Scott Ritter, he is on FNC's Neil Cavuto talking out of his ass right now. He's claiming that Iraq is not in material breach because the warheads are not actually filled with chemical. He's also saying that inspections work exclusively and no war is necessary. What a dolt!

He's on!

Saying inspectors are now doing thier jobs.(hmmm)

Ritter now walking the line, "see, we found these weapons and noone had to get killed over it."

Say's it's not a breech--it's an accounting problem! Unbelievable! An accounting problem?

Now he's giving advice to Saddam's generals to give orders to check all stores for other possible WMD's.

Most here side with you on #1 -Atta & Anthrax, but I don't think that's enough to galvanize everybody (particularly Europe).

I think we'll additionally need SH speaking to the 9/11 pilots (captured on black box) before we get the global OK to proceed.

This is great. He tried to go on a rant, but Cavuto shut him down a couple of times. Ritter is a well-bribed lackey. FoxNews shouldn't be giving this clown the time of day.

You don't know this President at all. The CIA started working with the UN Inspectors yesterday including allowing them to use drones for tracking trucks around Iraq!

You are so far off when it comes to this man that you cannot be a supporter. Why do you all come on here and try to lie all the time.

That Michigan deal is not a big deal when it comes to our going to war in Iraq. It is a big deal for RATs only! Get real!

They just said on Fox that the last two days the inspectors have been working with US intelligence sources to make their inspections. Looks like our intelligence was correct and they haven't even given them everything we have.

Looks like the four-week UN "happy face" good will tour is over.

Dolt is probably too nice of word for what I am thinking. Fox has been reporting all day that the CIA started working with the inspectors yesterday.

All 10 are possible, but I feel 1,2,4,6,7 and 10 seem the most likely to me. Good one.

"My thought was the mound he was taking them to was a mass grave and his family remains were included."

Chilling. And quite possible, considering what sick, sadistic b@stards Saddam and his cronies are.

I figured from the beginning that only a scientist with a BIIIIIG axe to grind against Saddam would cooperate with inspectors. The rest either hate the West or are completely cowed because Saddam basically holds all of their loved ones hostage.

IF his family is still alive, I hope they're safely out of harm's way. Reporters only said the he left with inspectors. Nothing about anyone else in the house.

this might have been leaked info in order to deflect the Michigan race preference story that would have dominated tonight's big 3 newscasts.

Idiot.

Re the Iraq/AQ link - lots more is coming but we don't really need any more than this from The Evening Standard (London) December 9, 2002: It is also undisputed that Iraqi-sponsored assassins tried to kill George Bush senior on a visit to the Gulf in 1993. The same year, Abdul Rahman Yasin mixed and made the truck bomb which wrought destruction and killed six in the first New York World Trade Center attack - then coolly boarded a plane for Baghdad, where he still resides.

There is strong evidence that Ramzi Yousef, leader of both the 1993 New York bombing and a failed attempt two years later to down 12 American airliners over the Pacific, was an Iraqi intelligence officer. All this was known in the Nineties. Nevertheless, the "no connection" argument was rapidly becoming orthodoxy

Can his sorry ass be tried for treason?

probably not. but in that he's decided to be the latter-day lord haw haw, i think it would be a good thing if everybody who sees him were to simply punch him in the nose. hard. and then, when he starts crying, punch him again. everybody who sees him. then the physical manifestations of his cowardice would be apparent to the unthinking two-thirds of the world.

Did you hear Cavuto say, "What you're saying, Scott, sounds like what Iraq is saying." And Ritter said, "I don't care what it sounds like." (!!!)

Either this guy is being blackmailed bigtime, or he's an absolute traitor.
