It's not hard to understand liberals utter contempt for such a outward expression of true faith in the guy upstairs. Hollywood's conditioned its liberal friends by letting Alanis Morrisette (Dogma) and Whoopi Goldberg (some Christmas movie) play the Almighty. Can anyone think of anything more blasphemous?
Supposedly, according to the National Enquirer the New York Times is among those "publications" that are digging into the background of Gibson (and his family) to find some sort of dirt to discredit him. Don't be surprised to see some Frank Rich-authored and/or sponsored expose in NYT magazine the week before Gibson's film is released.
No offense, but I consider it blasphemous to refer to God as "the guy upstairs". I do not find it respectful in the least bit, kind of on the level of Whoopi Goldberg playing the Almighty in your post.
True faith in God acknowledges him as God, not as an upstairs neighbor.
