Yo, who's not rootin' for Eagles?

HARRISBURG | Sure, state's southeast is solid, but will Pittsburgh, Erie back the Birds?

Everybody knows Gov.-elect Ed Rendell will be the state's Cheerleader-in-Chief when the Philadelphia Eagles play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday for the National Football Conference championship at Veterans Stadium.

A football nut, Rendell's been a Birds season ticket holder for 34 years. That means he's seen almost every home-game pass, fumble, tackle and block from Norm Snead to Donovan McNabb.

It also means he's witnessed jubilant victories and — more often — humiliating defeats from Izzy Lang to Bobby Taylor.

Warren's going to be doing the dancing.

Sapp's gonna' disappear, like the punk he is. Maybe he'll try another cowardly move like he tried on Maddox on that monday night game. A real tough guy that Warren Sapp.

Brooks OTOH, is a tremendous and classy player, he deserved MVP.

If you ever get a chance to see a playoff game in the Burgh you will never forget the electricity and don't have to worry about being mugged if you cheer for the other team.

Actually, the last time the Steelers played the Eagles at the Vet, the Philadelphia Police Dept. put undercover officers in the stands wearing Steelers apparel as a sting operation to arrest fans involved in just that type of behavior.

The haul was ten fans: 9 Pittsburgh area residents who attacked Eagles fans, and one Delaware Valley resident for public intoxication.

Maybe that's why there's a jail in Hines Field?

I don't see why the local papers of any town use up type space checking in on political figures and asking for their expert analysis on the local teams chances in the upcoming big game. It's boring and it's not unlike bringing the Hollywood elite into Senate hearings to dicuss starvation in third world countries.

Sigh.... my apologies in advance, I've had a rough morning in traffic.... again.

I was in Philly on Tuesday and stopped by the Oregon Express. They were having their grand opening and make the best hoagies I ever ate. They were delicious, hugh and inexpensive. ($4) Stock up for the game. I have Billie and some of her colleagues ( A few of FRs Finest--every day--) rooting for the Eagles. Be sure to ping her. GO EAGLES!!!!

This thread gives me a chance to ask about somethng I've wondered about for a while. I used to work with a guy from Scranton who was a Steelers fan. He claimed most of the people he knew in the Scranton Wilkes-Barre area rooted for either Pittsburgh or one of the New York teams. This seemed odd to me because Sctanton is Eastern PA. I could understand the New York influence because of the close proximity to the NYC metro area, but why would people there root for the Steelers over the Eagles? Sure the Steelers have been more successful over the years, but the whole city can't be front-runners can they? Doesn't regionalism count for anything?

Sorry, that honor goes to Michael Vick.

According to Tony Kornheiser the Redskins made the playoffs, so quit whining.

Go Eagles!

LOL, you're kidding me...You obviously did not watch too many Falcons games this year, where he almost singlehandidly won several games for them.

I need to ask...has there ever been any penalty called that Bill Cowher didn't think was a gross injustice? I haven't seen anyone whine that much since Bobby Knight was coaching at Indiana.

Please. Atlanta actually has an offense. Vick's got an arm and can run better than anyone, including McNabb. He's going to be around for a while and will change the game.
As for Sapp, have you seen his new site?

Of course, you will say "look how the Bucs stopped him".

Well, not every QB has a great game every game.

Think about this: Michael Vick should have been a Senior at VT this past season. Sapp's been around for 7, 8 yrs now.

Not a chance. Without Vick, the Falcons are no better than the Bengals. He took that team to the playoffs.

Vick is the real deal.

The Bucs are hungrier this year and managed this season to break free of the curse of not winning when the mercury dips below 40 degrees (maybe because Florida is having such a chilly winter?), and Brad Johnson seemed to have found his arm against the 49'ers. All that plus an awesome defense should ensure a real shot at the title. GO BUCS!

Uh, it was 39 against a horrible Bears team. Since the temp will be below 30, against a not so banged up team (first injury free IR all season), there might be some difficulty.
And Brad Johnson is a very good quarterback, except for when he plays Philadelphia. Considering the 49ers secondary was missing two starters and one of the corners is a rookie that is so bad, his nickname is 'crouton' since he gets burnt so much.
Wouldn't put much stock in Tampa's chances. Especially after Simeon Rice ridiculted Jerome Brown's team for the last game at the Vet. Bad karma. Football gods will not smile on the whiners from Florida.

I myself am rooting for the Bucs. I'd like to see John Gruden kick the crap out of his old team.
