Hey, Diver - how are you doin' this morning!

Doin' okay. Blues Clues and Bert and Ernie captured attention for a while, but I guess the excitement was too much. Nap time for a little while.

Now I need to decide whether to work or lurk. Decisions, decisions. Thin Man's comments are drawing me to lurking. :)

Thanks Billie. You have a lovely day.

I learned something today. You recall, of course, the Illinois RINO governor trashing their justice system by pardoning ALL 167 on Death Row (commuted them to life in prison)? Well, I posted an article regarding the Texas pardon authority of the Governor, and someone linked this to it on this post. Interesting...

Here is why Texas limited the power of its governor to offer pardons: Ma Ferguson

you can have that fruitcake back - Roscoe only took a couple of bites out of it anyway. :)

I hope you realize that expensive, extravagant food isn't good for dogs. Stick with Alpo!

Dave, it's looks like you can go back to work. I'm pleased to be getting my fruitcake back. This matter is closed. :)

Pippin if you love Star Trek then you will also LOVE Anne McCaffrey's DRAGONRIDERS OF PERN. Anne is a very detailed writer. I found the entire series HARD to put down.

Years into the future, three colony ships leave the overcrowded environs of Earth to establish a society on Pern, a planet orbiting the golden, G-type sun of Rukbat in the Sagittarian sector. After travelling for 15 years, the settlers finally arrive on their dream world. With new land to plough, new seas to sail and new lives to live, Pern is an idyll. But it is not to last long.

Soon after the new colony has been established, a deadly rain begins to fall. Thread, a mindless lifeform brought into Pern's orbit by the wandering Red Star, devours all organisms and is able to totally strip a cow - or human - in hardly any time at all.

In order to defend their planet, the settlers genetically alter a natural life-form, the fire-lizard. Already able to breathe fire and bond empathically with their owners, the new fire-lizards are able to speak clearly with their riders and are bigger than horses, designed to grow slightly with each generation until they are about 40 metres long.

Christened 'dragons' for their similarity to the creatures of Terran myth, the dragons and their riders are all that stand between Pern and oblivion. For thousands of years, they carry out their task, suffering injury and death without complaint and receiving little thanks.

Tables within tables. Tricky graphics stuff, this is. Dutchess, has this driven you to drink yet?

I'm very very busy at work but I'm not forgetting to pop back in and say again:

PIPPIN!! PIPPIN!! I'M GLAD WE'LL MEET SATURDAY AGAIN!! IT WILL BE A GREAT FREEP. I hope Kevin is speaking too - he was my favorite speaker last October. Kevin, you rock.

Either, if you can afford it buy them. Anne is a very gifted writer. She creates a whole world in minute detail. She also has another series on Telepaths.

Marion Zimmer Bradely is also another gifted writer in the same vein. Her Darkover series is anothe Sci-Fi best read.

In 1958, the first novel of her Darkover series, The Planet Savers, brought her widespread fame. In 1983, her most famous work, The Mists of Avalon, hit the best seller list and stayed there for four months. Each of those novels generated sequels. There were eventually twenty one Darkover novels, set on a planet colonized by earth at the end of the 21st century, and Mists was followed by The Forest House (1994) and The Lady of Avalon (1997).

It matters not if it was L'il Abner or Dick Tracy....that was a cute story about "Sparkle Plenty" and a very fitting analogy to our Pippin!
