...MEL GIBSON's .."SIGNS".. -&- .."WE WERE SOLDIERS".. have both been recommended for the Best Picture Oscar by Film Critic/National Talk Radio Host MICHAEL MEDVED...
...because of the Spiritual Armor they give US in Time of a new World War.
...Thus the Spiritual Battle of US vs. those against US from within and without has now been joined.

I would have never thought the kid i saw in the first Mad Max back in college would have given us everything from Braveheart to Patriot to We Were Soldiers and now this.
As a father of 4, my favorite Mel piece is in Patriot when he firsts drops his neutrality and goes after the Brits full bore after they've killed one of his boys and captured another. That fight scene in the woods(tomahawk and all) and it's immediate aftermath with Mel's sullen bloody face and the look of awe and fear in his two younger boys eyes is a really great movie moment.....sort of like those two young boys have suddenly realized that dear old dad....is not just daddy. I guess scenes like that move many old middle aged dads like me...lol

We Were Soldiers was basically "boycotted" by the media and hardly mentioned and they torpedoed it as a movie by not talking about it. Hollywood d "WWS" because it was so patriotic and good. They prefer Oliver Stone's portrayal of Viet Nam and always will as they detest America and America's military. Long Live Mel Gibson who has taken the s on head first and is going to be this generations John Wayne.

Of course you've already have ridden "to the sounds of the guns" before I could alert you
(my post #82)...
I guess a civilian can say "Gary Owen" to salute your alacrity.
(I hope that's not too presumptuous...)
