Gibson has a private chapel at his home in Malibu, California, at which the service is conducted every Sunday in Latin.

Latin Mass is now said rarely in churches - it was abolished in the 1960s amid reform to bring the church service closer to the people by ordering clergy to say Mass in the vernacular.

Gibson also reveals in the interview than his only daughter Hannah wants to be a nun.

He says he is very happy about her decision adding that she is "healthy, smart and well travelled" and he doesn't have to worry about her.

We all got the impression, from Mr. Gibson's facial expression and vocal tone, that he meant "sent by Satan."

I run across a lot of nominal "Christians" who don't think Satan exists anymore... I guess they assume that the incandescent light and indoor plumbling have taken care of Old Scratch. Would that that were the case! God has already kicked Lucifer right in the old everlasting slats, but a believer is delusional if he thinks the devil no longer makes anything but cameo appearances.

It's my understanding that Gibson is also somewhat conservative (along with his devout Catholicism), making Mel a two-time loser in the jaundiced eyes of the NY Times. Add to that his extraordinary success in the leftist bastion of Hollywood and I have no doubt the Bolsheviks in the media would love to crucify him, pardon the pun...

I saw Mel on O'Riley last night talking about this and I can't express how much I admire this man. Anyone who saw the movie Signs couldn't help but be moved by the spiritual message the movie carried and the great job of acting it out that Mel Gibson did. Mel witnessed for his faith convincingly last night. When O'Riley asked Mel if he could forgive the reporter(s) once this is all over for what they do to him and his family; Mel replied that "I already have". Mel stated that "I'm a big boy and I can handle whatever they throw at me" and strongly implied that he wasn't worried because he knew he had a much higher power looking out for him.

God Bless you Mr. Gibson, rest assured that you and your mission are in my prayers. You keep making your movies and I promise I'll keep watching them.

I caught the interview on O'Reilly where they flashed some shots that look like "pictureboard" shots of the film. I've seen many depictions, but these were graphic. I can't tell you the actual source but I took it to be along the image the Mel Gibson will present due to the nature of the conversation. Exceptionally compelling and I can believe that there are many people who would not want such a film to be produced.

The twelve apostles were not exactly pillars of the community, and the tabloids would have a field day with their backgrounds. Nonetheless, all but one responded to their call magnificently.

IIRC, Judas Iscariot was the most "upstanding citizen" of the lot, to the extent that the was chosen by the others to carry the collective wallet. Still, he strikes me as the kind of guy who would read the NYT rather than the WSJ.

And the devil doesn't want this to happen; he's quite happy with the way things have been going these many, many years in our country....downhill, spiritually speaking. The absurdity now of some not being able to say "Merry Christmas" because the word Christ is in it.

I'm extremely impressed at the strong faith messages expressed in Mr. Gibson's recent movies.

The chapel and family scenes in "We Were Soldiers" did an excellent job of portraying the values I am humbled to see in so many of my brothers in arms.

I second that. Add Mel Gibson to your prayers everybody, he needs them. It is amazing that when we think nothing good can come out of Hollywood, the Lord just surprises us one more time. I believe He is behind this project and their will be spiritual attacks on Mr.Gibson. May God bless him and his family.

I saw it Miss Marple and agreed with everything you and the others said. Mel Gibson was not talking about the reporter being sent by any human power, he was talking about satan. I could see it on his face. His expression left me speechless. It is good that he understands we do not fight against flesh and blood but against spiritual darkness.

And it shouldn't be. I think MG pointed out that this movie was to remind people of the tremendous willing sacrifice made by Jesus.

Crucifixion isn't pretty. The Roman Empire did little by the half measure. If you were to die a painful death, then you were to die a PAINFUL DEATH.

And the movie's going to be in Latin and Aramaic. Far out.

So. Either it's one of his famous practical jokes (which I doubt), or he's on the level, and is seeing, well, literally, the forces of darkness at work.
