And just maybe his lawyers have told him NOT to say anything. We know how effective getting up to the mike and shedding tears for your loved one is--NADA!! Remember Susan Smith? We need to have a little more compassion for people who have to go through this ordeal. I could choke some of those news reporters for the stupid questions they ask (was she carrying her husband's baby?????). Grrr.

Assuming we are all suspects under your "see no evil, hear no evil" supposition, who is the most likely suspect among us?

The most likely suspect is the person or persons with a motive for killing her.

Naturally, it could be a "sperm of the moment" killing by some deranged Californian serial killer (and since just about everything and anything happens in California one can never rule such an occurrence out) or a deranged person who wants a baby or wants a baby to sell. Yes, those are possibilities.

But are there template murders such as these that have occurred either recently or in the recent past that would suggest to the police that this is what they should be focusing on? Possibly, but I'm not aware of any "recent" crimes of a similar nature committed in this general area.

Very often the victim is either related to the perpetrator or knows the identity of the perpetrator. Many times it is the husband who murders his wife either in a premeditated fashion (usually for sex or money or both) or kills her in a fit of rage (manslaughter).

People always couch their suspicions by saying, "everyone handles their grief in a different way." I'd love to know exactly what way(s) they're talking about.

Your pregnant wife has disappeared, most likely the victim of foul play. In addition, your unborn son or daughter has been taken away from you, most likely forever. Your first reaction is unbelieveable shock, followed closely by an overwhelming sense of grief and saddness.

But I believe a real man, a loving husband who was innocent would fight through that pain and sorrow to help the police in every way he could. That would include making yourself available to both the media and police because you believe in your heart that they offer you the best hope of getting your wife and baby back.

I can see where if you had other children to console and care for they would initially take precedent over the media and the police. But after several days, after several weeks, there is no excuse for not being a man and taking charge of the crusade to find your loved ones.

Many of you think his actions normal. I do not. I think his actions prior to her disappearance and his actions following her disappearance are highly circumspect.

I think the police agree. To simply accept his word on everything would fly in the face of common sense.

Even if the police find her body (which I doubt) they would still have to tie the murder to him. Without a single witness, without his having opened his mouth, with his having procured a lawyer to shield him from the law, I believe he has most likely gotten away with murder.

However, Mary, if you have a better suspect at the moment, please name him.
