Thanks, wimpcat. See also my post #381 which refers back to #176, too.

See #375. It was a $250K policy, which he recently got on her.

The Enquirer mentioned that blood was found in the kitchen.

If they found blood on the mop...

(I'm starting to be reminded of Jeffrey McDonald again, and also OJ--the supreme arrogance and confidence...what the HELL does he think? As long as everybody thinks he murdered her, everybody is still going to keep searching for her as if she still might be alive? Again, the only word I can think of to describe him is "pr#$K"!

Yeah, if he's the primary breadwinner, the large insurance should be on HIM, not her.

From link #375 posted by clouda

Modesto police told Laci Peterson’s family that her husband was having an affair and recently took out a $250,000 life insurance policy on her, a family member said Thursday.

Detectives met with Laci Peterson’s side of the family Wednesday night to tell them why they believe Scott Peterson is responsible for the disappearance of his 27-year-old pregnant wife, the family member said.

Police refused to comment on the investigation Thursday, and Scott Peterson did not return calls Thursday night. “I don’t think she ever saw it coming,” said the family member, who asked not to be identified. “As to exactly what happened to her, I don’t really know.”

According to the family member, detectives told the family that:

Peterson took out a $250,000 life insurance policy on his wife last summer, after she got pregnant.

One would think; good observation. She had even quit working, I think I read, while she's been pregnant....

Police brief family on affair.

Is anyone considering the possibility that the girlfriend did it?

Christmas is certainly a time when being jealous of the wife would peak. And she comes forward with this phony act of ignorance: "Oh, why are you posting pics of my boyfriend? What? Wife? Missing? You don't say?!"

Where was SHE on Xmas eve?

Maybe driving to Berkely to get a reciept for Scott?

I'm inclined to accept the life insurance as reasonable.

250K is not that much for a couple about to become parents for the first time. I'm a SAHM and we've been told our family needs some insurance on my life because if I'm gone, my husband will have new child care expenses raising a family by himself.

It would have been irresponsible for them to not get new life insurance when they found out she was pregnant.

I agree, life insurance should be taken out, especially for families with children.....and on it's face, it would/should not be cause for alarm.

OTOH, there are other things that cause one to wonder if the motivating factor to purchase life insurance, in this case, was concern for the expenses and trouble to the new father (SP) should the mother die unexpectedly after giving birth or while the child is little....

BTW, did you see some show (Discovery channel?) where a father took out fairly large life insurance policies on his infant children? He collected on the deaths of two, I believe, and was going to collect on a third.....it was ultimately proven that the first was murdered as opposed to what was original declared as SIDS-related; the second was suspicious, but the DA's evidence of murder wasn't quite strong enough to convict (I think) and the third was "SIDS" again ... at least, initially thought to be but I believe was later proven as murder, also. These deaths occurred over a period of years and with different wives.

I think the "tide is turning" on Scott

I think this fish story won't hold water any longer, the tide is turning as this wide mouth bass is being reeled in now that the hook's been set and the fish story out of water is about to snowball.

Oregon vs. Joel Abbott The Victim — Carolann Payne, Abbott’s girlfriend, who disappeared in 1985 The Evidence — The prosecution presented testimony from friends and acquaintances who recalled Abbott having a history of violent altercations with women. However, key testimony came from a police informant, Abbott’s friend Francis Lewis, who secretly tape-recorded conversations in which Abbott indicated he had shot Payne and buried her where no one would find her.

My old neighbor Josh Marquis (in Oregon) prosecuted this case (which was on the link you have) and the guy was found guilty w/o the body ever being found. I am sure the fact that he has denied any other involvment to the police and with this new g/f surfacing, they have every reason to bring him in and open this new "can of worms". Verdict — Abbott was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison

I agree. They got life insurance on her, but there was only a small life insurance policy on him, which is irresponsible.

That was my take on her role in this. But after watching and listening to him, I think he's too arrogant to be clever.

I have a $250,000 term life policy on me (my wife has thought of bumping me off many a time!) and the annual premium is about $1,000. Of course I'm a lot older than he is so his cost would be less. But still, that's a pretty sizable chunk of your income, especially for a one income family selling fertilizer.

Getting beyond the fact that they both are attractive people, I don't know how to explain what it is I am seeing behind his eyes. To me, I have never gotten the feeling that Scott is gaa-gaa over his wife, as his family has reported. I have yet to see any pictures where I've felt, "Wow. Look at how he looks at Laci." or "He is sooo in love with her." She, on the other hand, seems relaxed, happy, genuinely in love.

It's similar to the Condit smile for the cameras, which lacks all warmth. Eyes are a window to the soul, as they say, and I am just sharing an opinion of mine as I see it.
