Using WMD in War - The Islamic Authoritative View (What The Muftis Say About Using Nukes)
Islam Online ^ | 16 Dec, 2002

Dear scholars! What does Islam say on using weapons of mass destruction in combat? As I know, our religion is peace and it never encourages such brutality to be displayed during warfare.

“We would like to say also that Islam cares much for keeping the environment clean and pure so that man can lead a better and healthy life free from any diseases or illnesses.

However, in case these nuclear weapons are used against Muslims, it becomes permissible for Muslims to defend themselves using the same weapon.

This is based on the words of Allah: "If ye punish, then punish with the like of that wherewith ye were afflicted." (An-Nahl: 126)

Besides, reciprocity is surely a principle known to all members of the international community.

Again, we stress the fact that all problems are to be solved in a peaceful way. Once we have no other choice but to fight, we are to defend ourselves, children, women and lands.”

We should leave the negotiations up to Japan, South Korea, and North Korea. Japan knows how to manage Korean labor...

"We should leave the negotiations up to Japan, South Korea, and North Korea. Japan knows how to manage Korean labor..."

Hehe...

If you are referring to the fifty-year occupation of Korea by the Japanese, I get your point.

It was thought this atrocity would have been forgotten and forgiven by the end of the 20th century. But the Asian mind in Korea keep passing it to the next generation.

However, the reciprocal "eye-for-an-eye" philosophy of Islam doesn't necessarily reflect the ideaologies of either of the Koreas or China.

The Islamic mind views "The West" as being infidel invaders blaspheming the "holiness" of Muslim ground by their physical presence on Muslim soil.

This is the very precept to wage their jihads against America and all non-Muslim nations not willing to embrace Islam.

The (oriental) Asians really could care less about whether Allah was a bartender in Hong Kong or Jesus was a cab driver in Seattle.

But both the Asian and Islamic worlds clash with the Western ideaologies in respect to fairness in the distribution of wealth.

This is the primary condition and cause for unrest in the Middle East in that the economically depressed Islamic nations are lashing out against Western nations and living standards and demanding their share of wealth under the guise of holiness or the phisod of their jihad.

Take the Palestenians against the Isrealis for example. This clash of principles is more about the economic distribution of wealth than it is about the disagreements and differences in religions or faith.

If the Muslims (and the Jews) believed one-tenth in their basic religious ideaolgies of fairness and goodness, they would be willing to coexist and work out their religious differences in peaceful ways.

Was the screen name "Senator Patty Murray" taken when you signed up? Such a pity.

Really? Perhaps you should spend more time reading the Koran and learning about the instructions for treating the Jews than reading Karl Marx and class warfare.

I have "looked up" your posts. My comments stand. Now why don't you "look up" some of the teachings from the Koran on how to treat Jews?

My apologies. It looks like you have done some research on how the Koran teaches that Jews should be treated. I do not understand then how you can blame the current troubles upon the distribution of wealth unless you see everything from a Marxist perspective. Nor, do I understand how you can claim that if Muslims only followed the Koran then peace would reign. It appears they are following the Koran and the example of their Prophet.

"...it never encourages such brutality to be displayed during warfare."

Nah. They reserve such brutality for times of peace when they can covertly sneak onto civilain airliners and fly them into buildings, thus - in a most cowardly manner - killing thousands of innocents.

"...our religion is peace..."

Then why is it at war with everybody all over the world?
