download Limewire; type in "9-11" or WTC and you will pull up all the video and still pictures you will ever want to see. Some amazing amateur videos that I have never seen anywhere else. Truly awesome images.

Doesn't that suck? I tried to take in the "Recommended Windows Update" Service Pack One for my XP....black screen afterwards, since HP (my builder) had neglected to address "compatibility issues". I then got to go through your experience, which is NOT fun for this computer lightweight. It's been three months and I'm still pissed off.

Gotta get a CD burner. Burn your important stuff to CDs and put 'em in a fireproof safe or bank safe deposit box.

Bad news. Have you worked out a back up and restore solution for your new hard drive? It is time and money well spent. Don't put yourself through this again, for pity sake.

I never keep any essential information or files on my boot drive, or boot partition. Many of the files you compiled after 911 are no longer available on the web.
I have about 6 GB of video and .jpg stills that I'd be willing to send to you if you have a broadband connection.

"Gotta get a CD burner. Burn your important stuff to CDs and put 'em in a fireproof safe or bank safe deposit box." And when you do it, burn at least 2 copies, verifying the first before doing the second copy of the CD. Even CD's can give you problems unless you're careful. You don't want to lose your hard drive and then find your only backup is unreadable. I burn copies periodically to CD-R's and CD-RW's. I've started burning to DVD+R's and DVD+RW's, same method but stores 4.7GB each.
