A police officer has died and four others have been injured during a counter terrorism operation in Manchester. The dead officer is believed to have been stabbed in the chest.
Another officer is believed to have been stabbed in the arm and is being treated at North Manchester General Hospital where his condition has been described as "critical".
Greater Manchester Police officers and immigration officials raided the premises in north Manchester on Tuesday at 1750 GMT to detain a man under counter terrorism legislation.
Two other men in their 20s were arrested in connection with an on-going operation with the Metropolitan Police's anti-terrorism branch.
It is believed the operation was connected with the recent discovery of the deadly poison ricin at a flat in Wood Green, London.
The junction of Crumpsall Lane and Middleton Road has been closed to traffic.

Wake up UK...don't you remember what real war is like?
Put away your Chamberlains, and bring out your Churchills, if you have any.

I hope the Brits didn't send in unarmed Bobbies.

There is a huge Jihadist menace in the U.K. If the British do not deal with it, and decisively, they will be destroyed (and I do not use this term lightly) from within in a generation or so.

Why aren't the FR division of Cop Haters, Inc. here cheering the death of this stormtrooper? Or are they too busy mourning the death of a dog to be concerned about a mere cop?

That's simply terrible. That's simply terrible.

Surely they didn't get sent in without guns? They're going after fanatic mad-dog killers; if they weren't armed, their superiors need their heads examined.
Anyway, God bless these poor fellows.

I couldn't agree with you more. It will be a shame to see England fall.

Did the Brits actually think there would be no consequences to letting millions of Muslims enter their small island nation? Of course, the same could very well be said about
The United States

"bring out your Churchills, if you have any." Bring Maggie Thatcher out of retirement- they need her (I think it is probably too late to clone Winston Churchill- too bad!)
By the way, we had a guy make over a pound of RICIN here in Alaska- he was caught in (I think) Indiana- the story sort of disappeared, but you have to wonder just what he (or his group) were planning to do with enough poison to kill a million people...

The dead officer is believed to have been stabbed in the chest. Wouldn't a anti-terrorist swat team wear body armor? And wouldn't they just shoot a guy with a knife?

The poor constable probably was killed before he could even draw his truncheon and blow his whistle....

Why aren't the FR division of Cop Haters, Inc. here cheering the death of this stormtrooper? Or are they too busy mourning the death of a dog to be concerned about a mere cop? You appear to have a bit of a chip on your shoulder regarding this. I don't think anybody would be cheering the death of this officer other than terrorists. However, it doesn't negate the fact that here in the US, our police have been militarized to the point where routine matters are handled like military operations. Appparently, in the UK they are at the other end of the spectrum, where they aren't sufficiently armed when raiding the apartment of a suspected terrorist. Neither extreme is good for anybody.

FR division of Cop Haters, Inc.Perhaps you could develop a *ping list.

Has it come to that? Why don't they just shoot 'em with guns like we do? They should shoot bullets, they're cheaper than knives and easier to load.

Are your posts always this thoughtless? Do you have to try, or does it just come naturally?

They must have those fancy 'spetznaz' spring-loaded knives.
