The Democrats are in the process of shutting down the Senate to stop the GOP from chairing Senate hearings.
This is going to be two years of total war. Let's see if the media notices!

I'm sure there are others....Let's hope the others who do use their knowledge more effectively than what is shaping up as a fiasco if Republicans can't even get their own way in the opening days of the new session.
I mean, this is not about legislating but just setting up the groundrules for real discussions later.
The longer the delay in this, the less time for passing legislation.

The Dems are using the resolution that routinely funds committee staff as the weapon to stall transfer of power. Incredible.

Frank:
The Democrats are trying to appear reasonable and put-upon, but they are just playing games. Traditionally, committee funds have been divided 2/3 to the majority and 1/3 to the minority. You'll remember that in 2001 the Senate was divided 50/50. Ergo in that case the committee funds were 50-50. Then Senator Jeffords left the Republican Party and became an Independent. Democrats up 50-49-1.
It was in the middle of the session, so rather than going back in the middle of things and renegotiating a new funding arrangement, the Republicans and Democrats decided to keep the 50-50 arrangement.
Now the Democrats want the funding 50-50 despite the fact that they actually lost the election. No one flipped parties to give us the majority. BAsically they are playing children's games to mess with us.

Every session starts totally from scratch. They are now operating without any structure (or rather the old structure) until the new one replaces it.
The Dems can just keep the new structure stalled and things will be just like November 5th, 2002, never happened.

The Republicans don't even need for the Rats to show up to do business. They should just start passing legislation 51-0 and sending it up to Bush for signature. That ought to get Daschle's attention.

Sarbanes raising his voice now that Senator Gregg points out that the Senate Dems are engaging in blackmail rivaling that of N.Korea.

Well the Republicans have the majority... if legislation, even legislation that the Dems want, doesn't get passed I don't think the public will side with the Dems...

Pete Domenici knows more about Senate rules than Vacant Lott. Frist doesn't have to ask Chester anything.

Good for you. This is the second day of this and no mention in the press.

Somebody please explain to Sarbanes that the difference between the last Senate and this Senate is that last time, the Democrats were NOT a majority, only a plurality with an independent voting to organize with them.
This Senate has Republicans with a true .

Sarbaines: I dont understand why the majority will not reciprocate with funding what the minority did when we were in the majority.
Voters: Because You Lost the Majority due to your obstructionism.

Yes. Watch the Dem Senators in the safest seats, be the most obnoxious. Hillary should be showing up pretty soon.
