The Democrats are in the process of shutting down the Senate to stop the GOP from chairing Senate hearings.
This is going to be two years of total war. Let's see if the media notices!

Here's a prediction...the Dems will screw this up, just like they did the Wellstone memorial....it's in their blood....Frist will not cave..he's too smart to give in...also, this will stiffen the backbone of the so-called moderate Republicans, Collins et al....they see the naked power game the Dems play...and watch..if this lasts till tomorrow..Zell Miller will become a Republican....

Well I just called Kyl's office and told them Kyl better go to Hatch and tell him "No." I'm sure it will do any good but the person in his Phx Office sounded like she liked what I was telling her...

Mitch McConnell Majority Whip is slapping the RATS around with their own demagoguery... saying 'our esteemed collegues suffering from a FAILURE to recognise that they lost the november election' FAILURE FAILURE FAILURE!!!

Since Jeffords jumped, I thought the formula was 50-50 or some such thing, so no, I don't think we've spent the last several years getting our asses kicked under the formula that majority party normally enjoys.
Why throw them a bone? Why? It doesn't pay to be nice to the dems. Ever.
Every extra dollar to the dems on the judiciary pays the salary of some earnest little sniveling ivy league graduate staff member who wants nothing more in his/her life than to defeat a Bush nominee. To re-live the Bork glory days. To experience the true joy of smearing an originalist jurist with the unfounded slur of "racist" or "sexist".
Every time the GOP extends the hand of compromise and civility to the leftist democrats, we pull back a bloody stump. Why do you think this time will be any different?

The Senate is deferential. Kyl won't tell a more senior senator what to do.

"You dont watch Hatch too often I suspect." Oh, I've seen Orrin get his dander up. It's fun to watch. But I've also seen Orrin functioning as part of the Club. The Dims mean business on judges and Orrin is going to have to be a partisan warrior. I haven't seen much of that in the last four years, ever since the Senate Republicans decided to flush the House's impeachment of Clinton.
I hope you are right. But running from the first fight makes me nervous.

Perhaps Frist could threaten to run the Senate without committees. Now THAT would be fun.

Did he just say that some Dem staffer said back in October that if the Dems won, they were going to go back to the original funding, but that if the GOP won, they were going to fight to keep it at 50-50?

As far as I am concerned, Jim Jeffords and Trent Lott are the scum of the earth.
Somebody needs to stand up and say that the reason we agreed to the 50-50 sharing was because for the first time in history a national party who was in the minority BRIBED a IDIOT from our side to come over to their side so that they, the Demcorats, could SUBVERT the choice of the people of the United States......because before Jim Jeffords jumped, the voters HAD given the Senate to us.

I just got a return call from the press office at Sen. Frist's DC office. Sen. Frist is going to stand up to the RATS. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson apparently intercepted an e-mail from Daschle to the other RATS dated Jan. 2. They planned this obstruction right from the start.
To: Deb
Now is the perfect time for Bush to start issuing Executive Orders and making interim appointments. The Senate can't do anything about it if they are shut down.

Good for Frist.
