God bless all the men and women in uniform, where would we be without them? And tgslTakoma definitely deserves to be one of FR's finest, she works so hard for all of us.

{{daughterofTGSL}} You've got one special Mom. Wasn't it good to see those photos of the impromptu Pentagon Memorial again?

I'm looking forward to the selection of the winner of the Pengaton Memorial Competition. They say they'll announce the winner in mid-February.

It's the soldier, not the reporter who protects our freedom of the press.

It's the soldier, not the poet who protects our freedom of speech.

It's the soldier, not the campus organizer who protects the right to demonstrate.

It's the soldier, who salutes the flag, serves the flag, whose coffin is draped with the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag!!!

"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need."

Sincere thanks to tgsltakoma for her dedication and extraordinary efforts! You are truly the Finest of Freepers and an inspiration for everyone.

A patriotic New Year's Eve
CHATHAM, Mass., Dec. 31 -- Carrying on a tradition that began in 1991, nearly 1,000 residents of Chatham gathered here today for their annual town picture at Chatham light on the grounds of Coast Guard Station Chatham. This year, in celebration of the lighthouse's 125th anniversary, the townspeople requested the National Flag Truck make an appearance with three of its five 90' x 45' American flags. The National Flag Truck is based in Boston at the Boston national historical park, "The Freedom Trail," and is on call 24 hours a day, 300 days a year. Each year, the flags are flown at more than 40 official government ceremonies. ( PA3 Amy Thomas, 1st Dist.)

Well, I sorta got caught up on today's thread so thought I would come back and read the rest of yesterday's.

We surely enjoyed meeting your mom - know you are very proud of her, and rightly so!
