There is a simple solution to their problem................

Instead of spending money of a new facility why don't he spend the money on REVAMPING their convuluted judicial system? They have a real wierd one designed so the killer will take several decades to get through. They and the other DP states could adopt Texas' system and save a lot of time and money.

I can't believe they are spending 220 million on 1,000 people.

You're talking about democrats. If they build a death row, it's got to be like a country club.

All they need to do is ask for volunteers, I'm sure the volunteers will even bring their own ammunition.

Davis is simply preparing for the backlash that will happen after he lets Californians know how they are going to make up for the $35B deficit.

They don't need a new 200 mil building. Just execute the criminals within a 5 year time frame at the most. A side benefit is it would take the Cali's minds off their miserable budget deficit and higher taxes. It's the entertainment/distraction factor.

Accommodations will be lush and plush, spacious and capacious.

I can't believe they are spending 220 million on 1,000 people.They aren't spending $220 Mil on 1000 people.
They already have 600 inmates who are housed just perfectly -- they are spending $220 Mil on just 400 new inmates.
This is much more in line with Davis' philosophy (the more spending, the better).
To: hoosierskypilot
Since the state seems so reluctant to execute these guys, why not offer the opportunity to the highest bidder? I'm sure there are some folks out there who would love the chance to play executioner, plus the State of California could make some pocket change instead of bustin' the budget.
To: CurlyDave
I suppose it sounds better the way they put it, 1,000 people. Gee, we can always count on the truth from the Dems.
To: FITZ
That's so true.
To: Drango
I asked the same question.
Davis is nothing but smoke and mirrors. I wouldn't be surprised to find that we're not really $35 billion in the hole, just that he's got some of it squirreled away somewhere.
