This the famous "Black Panther of the Moors." It's been photographed a few times, but no one can actually say what the hell it is.

State of Maine Fish and Game ought to be releasing a few for us as a tourist attraction. They will be able to live off road kill and passed-out visitors from Boston.

As a dedicated companion cat, I do NOT approve of this.

Since the attack, there have been two further sightings, one at a creamery in Llangadog at 2am last Wednesday.

Looking for a saucer of milk???

I like its other name... The Beast of Essex. Sounds a lot more dangerous than the Vicious Chicken of Bristol. ;-)

In Texas that cat would be a page 14 footnote after some rural resident scored a kill and had the cat stuffed and mounted.

Big deal! This happens all the time in the hills of southern California. We call 'em mountain lions. They apparently have an affinity for poodles!

Didn't Sherlock Holmes deal with something like in the moors?

I think he did in an unpublished work entitled "Feline of the Baskervilles".

That would be The Hound of the Baskervilles which dealt with a dog that had... ah, but I'll spoil the story for those who haven't read it.

FYIHOB was first published in October 1901.
