The Rev. Jesse Jackson.. Jackson
said in a sermon at a Manhattan church.
Now wait a minute, I seem to remember the IRS chasing churches who engage in political activity, revoking their tax exampt status.
Black churches are exempt from this persecution I suppose?

Churches are allowed to discuss public policy issues. They just can't formally endorse candidates.
However there is a big double standard between liberal black churches and white evangelical churches. The ACLU closely monitors conservative churches for any IRS violations, yet turns a blind eye when black pastors tell their congregations to vote Democrat on Tuesday. In fact, it is quite common for Democratic politicians to campaign in black churches a few days before an election. To the ACLU, this isn't a violation of Church & State; it is community outreach.
If the Pubbies have any spine, they would hold hearings about the shady dealings of Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton, and demand IRS audits on these race hustlers.

Issue advocacy is not verboten to 501(c)(3) [or whatever they call it] churches.
