I hate to say it (but I will); NM deserves Richardson. They call him a "diplomatic troubleshooter"? More like a diplomatic disaster. Or a diplomatic traitor. Sorry, can't stand the guy; does it show?

Smart, very smart. We will dither with N.Korea by meeting and talking with them until Iraq is done, then we will really start turning the screws on N.Korea. There is no way we can allow them to have nukes or threaten the world in the manner they have.

Wait a minute! The representatives of a sleazy, lying regime tell the representative of a former sleazy, lying regime a story and we are supposed to believe that they told him the truth and that he, in turn, told us the truth? Not on a bet!! I assume that the Koreans wanted to talk to Bill because the leader of North Korea has a bimbo girl friend that he wants to get rid of and he knows Richardson has experience in this regard.

Maybe that, or Richardson was paid for some errand that he has not yet delivered on.

"The North Koreans told me that they don't plan to build nuclear weapons and I took that as a positive statement,"

See, all we had to do was sit down with them, peacefully resolve our difference, and realize that, hey, things aren't so bad after all.

It's just amazing what a little heart to heart can get you. Violence is never the answer, especially when every is willing to be reasonable and talk things through.

Oh, well I guess the crisis is over, then. Thanks Bill!

Boy, that was easy.

U.S. diplomatic trouble-shooter Bill Richardson ended three-days of talks with a senior North Korean official on Saturday with a pledge the reclusive communist state will not develop nuclear weapons.

A pledge? OK ,we can now relax. Nothing to see here, move along.

Richardson, a skilled diplomatic trouble-shooter under former President Bill Clinton

This story reeks of WTF is he doing? And just what kind of CYA operation is this?

And anyone who can't figure that out in 10 seconds or less, well, I've got some beautiful ocean front property in Nebraska to sell you.

Richardson must be the liberals' desginated patsy when Jimmy "Catastrophe" Carter is busy picking up joke prizes in Stockholm.

No nukes. What a sweeping promise. I sleep better already.

The oral agreement from Kim Jong-il is worth about as much as the paper it is written on. The only reason they are not rushing post haste to construct as many nuclear weapons as their facilities permit, is the sure promise that the US will smite them a mighty blow. Only when that promise is not steadfastly enforced, as it was not back during the regime of the "Former Occupant of the Oval Office, 1993-2001", is the Communist kingdom of North Korea emboldened to do vain and foolish things, depending entirely on their nuisance value and the guilt trip-wires that are part of the psyche of the "liberal"-leftist surrender monkeys.

The North Korean problem was well on the way to being solved, when Truman, in his wisdom, chose to call back MacArthur. And for half a century, the damage has festered.

This is just one more area the Bush administration must shut down the Clinton admin's dealings. North Korea's talks with Richardson appears to be a comment of Bush's presidency being illegitimate.

No avenue the Clinton's can manipulate should be allowed to stay open.

"The North Koreans told me that they don't plan to build nuclear weapons ..."

Do you think Bill asked them how many they already had? If he did, do you think they lied?

This was a farce--Bill Richardson has no standing to be negotiating with the NKs. Someone said earlier that this was simply a designed time buyer. COuld be, but there had to be another way to do it.

You can't negotiate with liars.
reminds me of the Henry Rollins song "Liar"
-----
you think you're gonna to live your life alone
in darkness
and seclusion
yeah I know
you've been out there
tried to mix with those animals
and it just left you full of humiliated confusion
so you stagger back home
and wait for nothing
but the solitary refinement of your room spits you back out onto the street
and now you're desperate
and in need of human contact
and then
you meet me
and you whole world changes
because everything I say is everything you've ever wanted to hear
so you drop all your defenses and you drop all your fears
and you trust me completely
I'm perfect
in every way
cause I make you feel so strong and so powerful inside
you feel so lucky
but your ego obscures reality
and you never bother to wonder why
things are going so well
you wanna know why?
cause I'm a liar
yeah I'm a liar
I'll tear your mind out
I'll burn your soul
I'll turn you into me
I'll turn you into me
cause I'm a liar, a liar
a liar, a liar

I'll hide behind a smile
and understanding eyes
and I'll tell you things that you already know
so you can say
I really identify with you, so much
and all the time that you're needing me
is just the time that I'm bleeding you
don't you get it yet?
I'll come to you like an affliction
and I'll leave you like an addiction
you'll never forget me
you wanna know why?
cause I'm a liar
yeah I'm a liar
I'll rip your mind out
I'll burn your soul
I'll turn you into me
I'll turn you into me
cause I'm a liar, a liar
liar, liar, liar, liar

I don't know why I feel the need to lie
and cause you so much pain
maybe it's something inside
maybe it's something I can't explain
cause all I do
is mess you up and lie to you
I'm a liar
oh, I am a liar

if you'll give me one more chance
I swear that I will never lie to you again
because now I see the destructive power of a lie
they're stronger than truth
I can't believe I ever hurt you
I swear
I will never to you lie again, please
just give me one more chance
I will never lie to you again
I swear
that I will never tell a lie
I will never tell a lie
no, no
ha ha ha ha ha hah haa haa haa haaa
sucker
sucker!
oh, sucker
I am a liar
yeah, I am a liar
yeah I like it
I feel good
ohh I am a liar
yeah
I lie
I lie
I lie
oh, I lie
oh I lie
I lie
yeah
ohhh I'm a liar
I lie
yeah
I like it
I feel good
I'll lie again
and again
I'll lie again and again
and I'll keep lying
I promise

He said the onus was now on Pyongyang and Washington to reduce tensions

Typical Clinton-era move: Declare victory, have no concrete action, pass the buck, let it fester and reappear later, then be able to claim "hey, I tried"
