While I agree on the Visas, I do not on the Border part, remember a sniper incident in DC/MD/VA not too long ago? While he may not have come across the Southern border, he also did not come here on a Visa. And while we do not know how many terrorists have come across our Southern borders we do know that some have. So your "yet" statement is true in a sense but its more of a when not if.
It is not possible to capture all of them.
Agreed, however should we not try just because the task seems too daunting? Cut off their lifeblood, no Taxpayer services for anyone here illegally, in fact anyone here illegally should never have the rights of an American Citizen. Start jailing employers who knowingly hire illegals, no we may not be able to prove it right away but I would be willing to bet employers will stop hiring them when they think they could get Jail time, or spend what they saved and more, fighting a lawsuit in court. that and being labeled anti-American. Although in my mind they are Anti-American and Pro-Greed.
"The point is that activity at the ballot box proves that about the only blanket statement you can make about most Americans is that they don't give a crap.
Illegal immigration really wasn't a major issue this election cycle, most people(non-liberals and people who do not suck on the government teet) were worried about ousting the POS dims and their ilk. The rest(libs and "Give-me" types) did not bother to vote because they figured the Dims would win. However I will take a standing bet with you that by the end of 2004 illegal immigration will be paramount in most Americans minds.
