 As a follow-up to your January 7, 2003 meeting with Members of the African-American Republican Leadership Council and the Washington, D.C. Chapter of FreeRepublic.com, there are reports that you indicated you did not know the answers to many of their questions regarding Senator Byrd’s activities with the Ku Klux Clan  when a member in the 1940’s.

 

Please provide us a copy of your research into the unanswered questions:

·        Do you know what Sen. Byrd did while he was in the Klan?

·        Do you know  what the Klan was doing in West Virginia in the 1940s when Sen. Byrd

·        Were they lynching black people?

·        Did Byrd's Klan chapter burn crosses on black peoples' lawns and run them out of town?

I'll bet you a stale donut that Britt Hume has something about this on this PM's "Grapevine" segment. Brit is pretty darn perceptive..........and I think he's a lurker....maybe even a poster!!

You know, I'm a CSPAN junkie and upon the release of his most recent book, Senator Byrd was at some gathering with a crowd of loyalists and press people to hawk his book on CSPAN. This was probably last summer, during the election cycle.

The entire time I couldn't help but think, this guy is a former Klan member and they are actually paying attention to what he says.

If Byrd were a Conservative, his history and past would be ****WELL KNOWN**** in public circles and would one of those things that is referred to as an after thought. Kind of like the words "Lott/Republican = Segregation" (to the MSM) it would be "Byrd/Democrats = KKK Leadership position. Instead, it's largely unknown because it has been largely underplayed all these years...

And the main stream press wonders why more the half the nation thinks they don't have an agenda?
