This is more bunk but with regards the 34% of nuns that were sexually abused,it doesn't say when. If you want to count every male who bumped one's breast or patted one's fanny,I would imagine that 90% of all females have had that experience more times than once in their life. This is truly a pathetic attempt to make a mountain out of a molehill.
I am very suspicious of the glut of this kind of information because I think the enemy is working overtime to overload society with this kind of drivel. Then shortly people will get so tired of information, the ilk of this piece of crap, they will say "who gives a dam" and presto, the enemy has what they want. They will claim that nobody cares except a few uptight, antedeluvian, rigid religious freaks.
They will say sex is common, sex is good, sex is healthy for men, women, children, relatives and animals, whether they are dead or alive. And,furthermore since it is all those things everybody should do whatever they want, any time they want with whomever they want. Then the trap will close over us and man will become an enslaved animal, and those who would be "gods" will have all of these animals to train, think about it.
According to a German sociologist named Reich, who did research in the twenties in Germany,if you can sexualize a child before puberty you can be assured that there spirit will be closed to God and religion. The perfect plan.

"I don't doubt that it has happened but I don't trust the survey either."
Are you saying that those nuns who responded are lying?

Obviously, you are neither smart nor holy since you cannot imagine that others could be anything but just like you. While many may be like you, countless others have thought things through and know there are other ways to live one's life and may choose "the road less travelled".

"I have never in my life heard of anyone threatened with excommunication for reporting priestly sexual misconduct."
That's because it doesn't happen. They think by being a priest they have special status with God so they don't have to.

And,you know for sure that the minister, who is replacing the miscreant, from across the country is above reproach? You people ought to stop fooling yourselves. Liars and cheats don't tell the truth and we have come to a place in this country where a handshake after a deal is worth about nothing because when you are looking out for numero uno, sometimes you just have to fudge about things. Our society needs to look at itself with hard, cold eyes,it is not a pretty picture.
To: CCWoody
The difference is, that as a Protestant, if I find that my pastor (or any member) is engaged in sexual immorality, I can assemble the church and invoke 1 Co 5 if needed to solve the problem.Like Jim Bakker?

" ... but how many women do you know who have four different kids by four different fathers ending up in a good marriage?"
I know a woman who has four kids with three different fathers now married to my brother in law with no kids between them in a good marriage. Does that count?

"Peter knew he could never do that and properly care for a wife as well. So he divorced her ..."
Huh?

I'm almost certain that Peter wasn't the only apostle that was married...

Many men and women commit suicide when a relationship goes bad. Their death causes much sadness for those who cared about them. Stop being so cavalier about the consequences of sex outside of marriage, look objectively beyond yourself.

Stop being so cavalier about the consequences of sex outside of marriage, look objectively beyond yourself. What on earth are you ranting about? Where have I been cavalier about sex outside of marriage?
People who commit suicide over a soured relationship are mentally ill, and could likely have not sustained a relationship to begin with.

You don't know what we have but if they actually take a look, they would probably find our abusing priests are a smaller per centage of the total population of priest than the per centage of abusers in any other category of population.

To: marajade
Does that count? That'll work. I'm always gladdened when people manage to make things better for their lives. I just can't think of any cases like that in my experience.

Then you and others like you still in should fight. I left long ago and would never go back considering all of the leftist influence now rotting the church away. On the other hand, concerning all of these hateful fundamentalist "Left-Behinders"... well I can't wait for the rapture, so all of their self-righteous, ignorant arses are off the planet.
To: Bluntpoint
I would have to agree, after seeing that positively swishy,smarmy,oh-so affected archbishop on TV a few times. What a piece of work,he is also a liar. The two traits are often found together I've noticed.
To: marajade
Are you saying that those nuns who responded are lying? No, I am not saying that. Maybe they asked the wrong nuns. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. It probably does. But I don't trust studies any more.

I don't want to be driving around when a car keeps running after its driver is gone.
