[history]
A GROANING SHELF of evidence bears out what many people know intuitively: The American mass media suffer from a left-wing slant. The data come in a variety of forms: classic studies such as ''The Media Elite'' (first published in 1986) and William McGowan's ''Coloring the News'' (2001), insider exposes like CBS veteran Bernard Golberg's recent bestseller ''Bias,'' and a thick sheaf of industry studies and public opinion polls.

How about that for EGO?

This from the guy who was wiping tears from his eyes when the Berlin Wall came down - he couldn't believe that the Gipper had done it and he also didn't have the Cold War to use as an avenue to bash Conservatives with.

There's a simple reason that journalism is anticonservative: you make money that way.
Conservatives are irritated by anticonservative stories, and can't help checking them out. Instant audience!

"How long before the Globe finds a reason to fire this guy?" They've already suspended him once. For three months, without pay. On a trumped up charge.
One suspects that Jacoby has chosen to stay on the Globe's payroll just to spite them.
They're probably afraid to fire him -- because he's a Jew and, were I him, I'd call out the EEOC on them.

Since just about everyone on FR can name people who fall to the left or to the right of one's own outlook, I would love to hear these 'largely in the center' newsreaders name a few names of persons who they consider to be to their LEFT. I mean there must be a list, eh, since these guys are so centered!

Excellent point. They would be hard pressed to give a list. I think the way they justify this in their own minds, is that they report the news far to the right of where they are personally, so to them it feels like they are in fact reporting the news without bias. The problem arises from the fact that they are so far to the left with respect to the general public, that they have significantly misjudged where the true center really is. This explains why they think ordinary conservative are extreme and liberal Democrats are moderates. To them a middle of the road conservative looks very extreme.

It is so predictably SOP of Ma and Pa Clinton. They always have manufactured an outrageous lie, keep fueling the lie, depend on their legions of biased liberal media punks to drink and carry their bucket of rot gut by putting the rot gut to ink and discussion thereby creating a frenzied issue that doesn't have any factual foundation to support the lie but soon somehow becomes fact to the uninformed.
Surely the only thing that can come close to their delusional dreams of producing an angry liberal talk show host would be like watching and listening to reruns of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro spewing hate on the History Channel.

Well, let's just examine this. The ratings for the Big Boys in the news business are in the tank (septic tank, that is) and the ratings for FOX and conservative talk radio are through the roof. If you were the CEO of a company where would you put your advertizing dollars?
The 'People' are making their decisions and they will crush the propagandists. Free markets! A good tide raises ALL boats.
The 'People" will decide and they will decide the course of this great nation as well. The jugernaught of liberty will roll over socialism and the People WILL be free. Trust me on this!
