Don't get giddy..... as that's when reality will set in... Expect a few good days and a lot of bad ones and you'll not be too disappointed. Politics is a game of compromise at best.
I do think that Frist will bring a different approach for a while at least. But the Senate has it's own rules and they are deeply rooted....
He'll get some of his appointees confirmed now or at least to a floor vote. Even that will take time as they do have to go through the hearing process. It will be interesting to see how hard Hatch pushes the hearings.

Amen to your two great posts!
I am reading a Michael Crichton book (Timeline) which involves alternate universes. I refuse to believe in an alternate universe wherein Gore would have been elected.
What a hellish nightmare that would have been, doesn't bear thinking about.

Robert Novak just reported on CNN that today in the Senate Lott went up to Tom Daschle and shook his hand and laughed with him and gave him a big old hug. He never even LOOKED at Frist. Looks like we have another petulant weasel for the McVain branch of the party.

Uh, I ain't talkin about those "queer, or gay" rumors. Whatever they call it now. I'm talkin about his "God save the King" attitude. That's ok as long as you are the King, I reakon. I'm talkin about how he's made his whole family rich. The "pork" he brought home to Ms., was for his own family. That ship yard down in Pascagoula is still in business because we are goin to war. Every ship yard we got is boomin, an rightfully so. I wish somebody could tell me what he's done for Ms. I must've missed it somewhere along the line. Don't nobody need ta talk to me about Ms., Senator Lott. I live here, vote here, pay taxes here. I ain't never forgot Lott was a democrat and changed parties when Reagan took the sweeps. When he got up there, on National tv, and called us all corrupt, etc., I reakon he forgot who REALLY put him in office. If the Republican party don't run somebody against him this next time, we gonna lose that seat. I just hope when that time comes we can afford to lose it.

Did you see Rick Santorum blow up at Dashcle? Worth EVERY penny I donated to the RNC! Sorry I missed it. Santorum did a party-good-deed by stepping aside for Lott so that Lott could chair the Rules Commitee. Stand-up guy, IMO (Santorum, not Lott).

Lott showed his true colors today when he walked into the Senate and hugged daschle while ignoring Senator Frist. That did it for me. Lott is behaving as a petulant pissant dweeb. What next? join the ACLU? Run for president of the NAACP? Bunk with John McVain?
To: Mad_Tom_Rackham
Sure sounds like Lott is extractin the last pound of flesh for doin what is right for AMERICA, don't it? Fine US Senator he is. Barf alert.

I saw the report about the cruise ship that was being built that cost the tax payers. As to Lotts apearance on Black TV, I was shocked that he insinuated that his whole state was racist. He'd be crazy to try to run again. As to the "love that dare not be mentioned", well, that would explain a few things.

"President Bush was our best chance of getting any sort of conservative policies passed. He was elected (miraculously) and he has managed to get tax cuts and increased military spending passed, along with the roll-back of many of the Clinton EO's on environmental and UN issues. He is pro-life and has demonstrated it. He has managed to elevate the dignity of the presidency, trash the UN, get a missile defense shield underway, and generally make the democrats run and hide. Now, this is not a perfect program. I wish we could have gotten voutures in the education bill, I am nervous that the SC won't gut the CFR bill as he hoped, and I wish he would explain his position on immigration and the borders more fully."
However, he is doing a wonderful job on the war, he just re-nominated the conservative judges that the democrats held up, and he is pressing for sweeping tax cuts.
Some pretty fair articulation on Dubya thus far...
It is absolutely paramount however that he reverse field regarding his position on (il)legal immigration and enact stringent border enforcement.

I have not read all the post as of yet. I have to say I didnt understand why they were saying President Bush wouldn't re-nominate Pickering in the first place. If he was a good pick to start with -- then there should be no reason not to send him back to be nominated. Both Dems and Republicans backed him in his Home state of Mississippi. Needless to say... I'm glad to hear he is being re-nominated.
Stand firm President Bush!

I missed the cruise ship. Watch him these couple of years, I don't trust him. I'm gonna see what hell we can raise about his extortion of us taxpayers. I've had 'nuff of Lott. That bein' said, I want ya all to know Pickering will make a good conservative Judge. That's why the democrats an liberals hate him. Also, far as I know, he is his own man, don't owe anybody anything and no skelatons in his closet. Hehehehe.
