It's too damned slow for me... Moore's fifteen minutes were over ten minutes ago!
He has been a very successful self-promoter who has made himself a darling of the hate-the-establishment left. Ever since his breakout film, Roger & Me [1989], on General Motor's closing its Flint, Michigan auto factories, he has made his living being an anti-establishment gadfly. Unfortunately, with his current book, Stupid White Men ... [2002], still ranked on Amazon.com as #50 after almost 11 months in print, I fear that there are enough stupid sheeple to keep him going for a while longer.
I think this is true of the pop-left in general. Helen Thomas's Goebbels-style outburst yesterday at the White House, the peace-hypocrite collective's plans for a violent take-over of Seattle, the recruitment of human shields for Saddam's Army, are further evidence of a subculture bent on its own destruction. Like all authoritarians, they must eventually abandon the pretense of rational discourse, and reduce all issues to a decision by force. That day has come. In this, they are trapped by their own ideology; driving themselves toward a showdown they cannot win.
