It'll be interesting, to say the least. By then, the local dems will have their talking points (all handed down by DNC HQ) that say GWB is capitalizing on 9/11 for his own gains. W will have to do one of his incredible speeches there to win 'em over again.

Good comments, although two points: 1. Patakifeller is a LIBERAL Republican (not a moderate, that would be Dick Lugar), much like his spiritual godfather, Nelson Rockefeller. New York has a long history of liberal Republicans. 2. Hannity speaks for the conservative MINORITY in New York. If you add together the people in NYC who listen to WBLS (da bruthas), NPR (the yuppies) or no talk radio at all (the average suburbanite sheeple), Hannity's listeners are highly outnumbered.

Bush didn't even win the white vote or the male vote in the last election in New York. He failed to take even one of the suburban counties (unless you count "exurban" Orange County), nor did Dole. My prediction stands: New York only goes for a Republican in landslide years.

Actually, Hillary did better than any Democrat upstate in recent memory. Loozio managed to win a few suburban counties that Bush lost largely because he had a vowel at the end of his name.

Here in the City (which provided the majority of votes in 2000), most people I know pulled the level for Hillary. Sad, but true.

Not quite. Name ONE even moderately "conservative" poltician who has done well statewide. In the case of congressional districts Vito Fossella (my congresscritter) is the exception down here. Carolyn McCarthy, Jerrold Nadler and Carolyn Maloney and other Dem Socialists in Suburbia and the City are safe.

What New York needs is an influx of Southern Baptists and Mormons to make it more conservative. The Italian/Irish yabbos that I grew up with were only "conservative" if a black person moved on their block...

I'm a native New yorker. I grew up in NY. I know they NYC mnentality. Once they make a friend they back him up. I still have amny friends there. GW surprised them big time.

They will vote for him (they elected pataki and Giuliani, remember?) Now they know him personally.

NY State is a LOCK for Bush in '04. Bank on it. Maybe not a landslide, but a LOCK.
