Yep, older people of especially limited means are being forced out.
There is even talk of them going after Prop 13 which would break half of all oldsters in CA alone.
But no matter how CA became younger, has little to do with smoking and bars.

I am in the LA/Orange county area and we have tons of places to go eat and drink that are mostly new. Frankly, few of the old style bars are surviving and newer places are taking over.
#1 California under Davis grew the state government by 40% I read the other day. That accounts for a lot of our problems right there.
#2 We also allow illegals to access out public funds to pay for illegals education and health care. That is billions a year right there.
#3 Davis also budgeted like the stock market would never stop it's unrealistic rise and revenue to California.

There are many factors that hurt us in CA. But market forces drive which businesses make it today MAX.

You say that like those are bad things? See, when you hand over your freedom to daddy government, they don't just stop at cigarettes. Gov't has an insatiable appetite. It's also health care, and since they pay for that, they ban cigarettes, 'cause it makes the health care costs go up. Then they tell you what you can eat, you know heart disease and all, and so on, and so on.

One day, they ban something you LIKE, and you just can't believe how that happened. The funny thing is, you supported it all along. All the while, they take 60-70% of your earnings to pay for it. SUCKER!
