So, basically you're saying that Lunokhod 2 was there at the launch site at the time of launch? Pretty impressive, especially when you consider that Apollo 17 was December 7 - 11 December 1972, and Lunokhod 2 didn't make the moon until January 15, 1973.

BTW, I'm sitting here, running through the footage, and can get the exact same caps you've got, along with the perspective and shadows. This was a camera set up to record the launch.

Huh?

What is in the picture is the lower stage of the lander that was left behind, it was there when the Russians explored the area and it is still there now.

Those captures are from a russian video,
