First American space flights. Our school did not have TV. But, I took my transistor radio to school, and teacher let me listen to the reports and scrawl them on the chalkboard.

First time I saw color television. Next door neighbor's house. We watched "The Wonderful World of Disney" At 7:00 EST on NBC.

Mickey, and Goofy, and Donald and Tnkerbell on small screen, just like in the theater was a big deal.

The McCartneys down the street had the first color television in our neighborhood. We'd all go over to watch Shari Lewis.

Boy does that bring back memories! We got our first color TV on January 1st, 1962. One of those round screens. We turned it on to watch the Rose Parade, the football games, and were watching a movie when midnight hit. Spent the whole day glued to the tube. Went ice fishing the next day and really nailed the bluegills!

I remember doing that with the first shuttle flights. I took a transistor radio to school for Reagan's inauguration, and they broke in with the Iran hostage release announcement...

Remember that the first time TV stayed on all night was when JFK was shot. My kids just cannot believe that.
