"-----This was the forties in a neighborhood in Boston ----"

I grew up in Winthrop in those years, and I don't think my town had any classy restaurants --- just a couple of "Friendly" type places. We usually went to Chinatown in Boston, and I can still smell the wonderful aromas on the streets, inspite of the piled up garbage cans!

You were probably too young to see the Hookers and the sailors, Boston in those days was the best liberty town on the East Coast, according to my Dad. He met my mother at a USO thing, Her Irish Catholic ways straightened his young a## out.

You were in Winthrop which was like a day trip for us,it was a real treat to go to your town.

Chinatown was great,I haven't been there in years because there are ethnic restaurants all over the suburbs now but it's not the same,is it?
