" Everything was Bush's fault, no matter what the subject"
Brian Williams and Campbell Brown have been filling in for Brokaw on NBC. Their bias against Bush rivals Jennings and Rather. I don't understand the news philosophy at NBC , which is apparently to drive viewers away.I have no idea what the news philosophy is at ABC and CBS,as I never watch them, for obvious reasons.Occasionally,I could stomach Brokaw . But,tonight,Williams drove me away from NBC for good- everything from the "worst Christmas shopping season in 30 years"( which was Williiam's nightly mantra-his newscasts were like Groundhog Day) to the wild weather-is Bush's fault. Fox is the only channel worth watching-period.

I LOVE FOXNews. One question though. What does the "G" in The G Block stand for?!! Anybody know?

I can't imagine what the water flows are like in your neck of the woods. Parts of Medford received 30 inches in Dec. We've had steady rain..rain I said in Dec & very little snow. All of the major winter snow warnings we recieved failed to materialize & headed south. The Rogue must be a chocolate mess. I'm not even considering fishing for awhile.
Hope you had a great Christmas season.

What does the "G" in The G Block stand for?!! Anybody know? I e-mailed Shepard Smith a few months ago, asking the same question (it was driving me nuts!). Here's his response to me:
Each show is broken down into blocks, or segments, and given a letter name. The G-Block is simply the entertainment segment, the 7th segment, toward the end of the show. One night I referred to it on the air by its off-air name, and it stuck.
Thanks for watching the Fox Report!

Hint - it's not the news readers (Which is what they really are) it's the producers !
They're liberal as heck and the news readers pile on !

Fox news is great - but their morning show is just unbearable to me. I can't even watch five minutes of it.

" Im seriously waiting for the day those guys put on clown suits and break out the bicycle horns. When is fox news going to fix that situation, it's embarassing and costs them their ratings because I always end up on cnn in the mornings and I dont like that either."Gotta agree with you. E.D. is the only one of the three with a brain, but the guys both break their necks to drown her out and upstage her. They're insufferable! That radio guy that screams that they put on every day is obnoxious too.

Agreed. But Dish won't offer the NFL Sunday Ticket. DirecTV is the way to go for sports fans.

I get what I need from the NYT and Washington Post on line...it doesn't cost a dime, all you have to do is ignore the "pop ups". If I get transferred back to DC this summer I'll probably just buy the Sunday Paper, so my kids can read the comics and my wife can get the coupons!! These guys can't be making any money on their online editions, can they?? Right now by the time I get home every night and start to read my Pacific Stars and Stripes, I end up breezing through the paper until I get to the "Jumble", since I've already seen most of the news articles on line.

Which everone that fits your needs. We are very happy with our 150 Dish system. A good friend and his wife love their Direct TV system.
What is great is that we are no longer the prisoner of some petty little local facist who controls the channels on your local cable company.

Isn't this a normal season of rain for Medford,
Parts of Medford received 30 inches in Dec.? I can just imagine what the Rogue looks like from Grants Pass to Gold Beach. There will be new fishing channel this year after the waters go down.
We had a great Christmas and New Years. We chased the last of our dinner guests out this morning at 2:30 am. Grampa and Gramma were dragging around today. Gramma hit the sack at about 9 this evening.
How was your Christmas?

Glad to be of help. That "G-block" question has surfaced several times lately on FR. And recently, I was standing outside of Fox News studios in NYC while Shepard Smith was broadcasting - we were watching him in the studio through the glass windows. A crowd gathered to watch, and all I kept hearing was "What's a G-block?" LOL... No, you're certainly not the only one wondering about it! :-)

It would be interesting to see if they lose money on their internets sites. I believe that the Post lost a ton of money up this last year.
There have been so many cancellations of newspapers in our area, we get most of the ads as some type of junk mail throughout the week. Which I think is great as the newspapers don't get the ad money. The people who own the stores and sell the products at producing the multi colored ads and then mailing them. You might want to check that out.

But,tonight,Williams drove me away from NBC for good- everything from the "worst Christmas shopping season in 30 years Brian Williams is not anti-Bush. You are flat out wrong on that. Williams even listens to Rush even more frequently than his colleagues would like. I've always found him fair.
As far as the worst Christmas Season in 30 years, it was. That is economic fact. You may want to quible about how they are defining it, but its how economists and the stock market defines it. This Christmas showed the worst increase in sales versus year ago then anytime since the 70's. Im hoping this is related to increased spending online which hasnt been taken into account but in the meantime, you can stick your head in the sand and say its not the worst Christmas but you would be wrong. Its certainly not anti-Bush to report it. After all Bush didnt cause 9/11, the high tech bubble, or corporate corruption.
If you sell the same number of dollars as a year ago but have more people in the market (i.e, population grows each year), then you are selling less to each person. If you sell the same dollars as last year and you have any inflation at all, you are getting less product than the year before. If the retailers have to sell the product at high discounts and dont make any profit, how do they continue to hire employees. In an economic recovery sales usually grow 6% or more vs. year ago. Over the past year, the economy has only grown 2 1/2 to three percent. During the Christmas season, it grew 1.5%. Tell me how strong the economy is right now. I own my own company and I deal with other businesses and I can tell you that business right now sucks.

"The Rogue must be a chocolate mess. "
I live right above the Rogue, and I tell ya'...the last week's been SCARY! My backyard's a 10' cliff, straight down to the Rogue and the water was SO close to me I could almost reach down and touch it! Normally there's a nice little ripple right below me, but it was so high that all the rocks were buried, and in fact all the trees on the opposit bank were submerged.
Very neat, but kinda scary!

I keep waiting for Shep to refer to the "G-block" as the "G-spot" - sort of like his J-Lo
faux pas. ;-)
I love Shep, he's just a hoot.

There USED to be a monopoly in the media. Now that choice has arrived.....
