OSAMA A GOOD-DOER? MURRAY SEEMS TO THINK SO

December 27, 2002 --

My son was murdered on Sept. 11.

Sen. Patty Murray's affectionate representation of bin Laden is sickening. It is a vulgar demeaning of not only my son, but of everyone who perished that day.

There is no way the senator can properly represent Americans when her sympathies embrace evil. She should resign and allow someone to hold her position who will tender reverence, respect and honor to Americans and not to those evil people who slaughter for kicks.
Patrick L. Cartier
Jackson Heights

Sen. Patty Murray's fulsome praise for mass murderer and Islamofascist Osama bin Laden is not only morally offensive, but factually false ("Will Senators Stand 'Pat' After Murray's Pro-Osama Speech?" Letters, Dec. 24).

When and where has this bloodthirsty lunatic or any of his ilk ever built a school, aside from some hate-breeding madrasses? And if Osama had built a hospital someplace, it would take only male patients, since Islamic fundamentalists routinely deny women medical care, as well as all other rights.

Overall, Osama's goal is to destroy modern society and to enslave the very people Murray claims to care so much about. If Murray doesn't do the honorable thing by apologizing for her pro-Osama remarks, her constituents must preserve their own honor and vote her out in 2004.
Tom Mangieri
Chatham, N.J.

Murray's comments were not supporting Osama, but rather pointing out that the West has not done enough to win the hearts and minds of many Muslims.
Victor Amann
Philadelphia, Pa.

Based on Murray's fondness for Osama, I wonder if she will next praise the North Koreans for developing a high-tech workforce, as that country pursues building nuclear weapons.
Michael Morrison
Gaithersburg, Md.

Murray's comments about bin Laden absolutely epitomize the Democratic Party's blame-America philosophy. The stupidity of her remarks make Sen. Trent Lott sound like a Ph.D.

She should resign for the good of the nation and the Democratic Party. But not before she apologizes to all of those who lost loved ones on 9/11, starting with the New York City Fire Department.

She should then pledge to help move the Democratic Party from hating the military to helping it defend our nation from the scum she has so heartily embraced.
Don DeVan
Manhattan

Perhaps Murray can arrange to export the school system she went through to all those who love Osama.

That way, the next time they try to kill us, they won't be able to locate America on a map.

Somerset, N.J.

HITLER BUILT ROADS, TOO

December 31, 2002 --

Sen. Patty Murray is a disgrace. With her praise of Osama bin Laden, she has insulted all of the families of those murdered on 9/11 and all of the soldiers and civilians that bin Laden murdered through the years ("Osama a Good-Doer? Murray Seems To Think So," Letters, Dec. 27).

She forgets that Adolf Hitler, too, built bridges and factories and created jobs for Germany.

He also had millions of people executed.
Jeff Jones
Bowling Green, Ken..

Using Murray's logic, we may have killed off one of history's greatest men. Hitler was the builder of the Autobahn in Germany, known to be one of the safest roads in the world.
Chris Michaels
Morganville, N.J.

I've finally figured out the relationship between Sens. Patty Murray and Hillary Clinton: One is the Wicked Witch of the West, and the other is the Wicked Witch of the East.
Ted Scott
Glendale

Surely, Murray isn't implying that the United States has an obligation to build schools, homes and roads in every other country in the world? Surely she doesn't mean our hard-earned tax dollars should be used for that?

Oh, wait. They already are.
Laura McDade
Mira Loma, Calif.

After reading about the praise Sen. Patty Murray gave to Osama, I hope the senator and I aren't related.

If we are, I'd be happy to change my name.
John Murray
Mahwah, N.J.

Absolutely hilarious bump! Too bad this isn't a freeper quote. It deserves a "quote of the day" award...
