If I recall right the other five came forward and volunteered the information to protest the Two that were caught and kicked out.

How does this sound:
Get educated for free on Uncle Sam's dime. Then when you are about to actually go into danger, declare you are "gay" and get booted out.
Then, with no college debts to pay off and good Arabic skills, go work for some other company, even a defense company, at a much higher salary.

Get real. You have to provide evidence, not anecdotes and stereotypes from the playground.

What idiocy. NO sex is permitted in the barracks, homo- or hetero- . Typcal press ignorance.

Don't ask, don't tell, don't drop the soap. I have a son at Parris Island, supposed to graduate in 23 days, and guess where he goes next? According to him the Corps tested everybody they recruited last fall for language potential and he qualified for MOS 2671, Arabic Cryptologic Linguist, 63 weeks at Presidio of Monterey.
I vaguely recall reading of a ship back in the 1920's that had an evil reputation in the Navy as a sink of vice and depravity, think it was the old cruiser Pittsburgh, which gave rise to a saying amongst sailors: "Better a sister in a whorehouse than a brother on the Pittsburgh" (I may have the wrong ship, so if I have slandered the crew of the Pittsburgh please forgive me.) I hope DLI doesn't have the same reputation.
First it was the flesh-eating streptococcus that could kill a recruit in 4 hours, now this. I'll relieved when all he has to worry about is people shooting at him.

There is also a disproportionate representation of gay men in music (e.g. Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Benjamin Britten) which requires a very similar (if not the same) type of intelligence. The queer theory activists who have taken over music scholarship always re-define Lenny B. as gay. Lenny liked girls and boys. And in its abstraction, music is much closer to mathematics than it is to language.

Regarding the "Israelis" supposedly tolerating this activity: Yes, homosexuals are allowed in the IDF, BUT: They are billeted at home, denied leadership positions, and systematically excluded from military intelligence functions.
In regard to this last point, virtually ALL linguists in the US military are in miltary intelligence and required to gain (and maintain) classified clearances. Frequently they are privy to sensitive, secret and even top secret communications. Among other restrictions, you cannot get into military intelligence unless you are a natural-born citizen.
Also, in the field, linguists are sometimes thrown together with Special Ops people, living in close quarters (sometimes sleeping butt-to-butt) interacting with and trying to win over native cultural groups that are deeply hostile to homosexuality.

The more I read about this case, the more it stinks. I think these guys wanted to get the expensive training, and then get out, knowing the socialist and gay media would portray them as heroes, and that they would be able to cash in on their training. So they deliberately engaged in flagrant violation of military rules -- but only after 30+ weeks of training. They should be forced to reimburse the American people for their training.

Service life is all about rules. Rules must be followed even if you diagree with them. Break them and you risk being kicked out or even jailed.
There is no way these men did not know the rules. They are taught in great detail. They just thought they could flaunt them.
I don't want anyone in the service who flaunts the rules. They will break other rules as well and jeprodize lifes in the process.
Nearly all men would not want to witness this kind of activity. There are men who will react violently when propositioned by other men. Don't ask Don't is a necessary rule.

But there's no mention of the discharges of the other 5 being based on anything but being gay. They made sure that everyone knew they were gay, which means they forced a confrontation. If the Army authorities had not booted them, the policy would have been rendered null and void, which would have meant that activist homosexuals would have succeeded in rendering military authority impotent.

God Bless your son. Keep him safe Lord.
He's got a big job to do. Thank you for raising such a fine human being.

the two men were caught in bed together. Both of them were discharged. Before or after they had discharged...?
To: I_Love_My_Husband
Unfortunately, that was also the night of a surprise health and welfare inspection at 3:30 a.m., and the two men were caught in bed together. During the nine months I was in an enlisted men's barracks at DLI, I do not recall ever having had to undergo such an inspection.

I hate to break it to you, but gay men are disproportionately talented at languages...Prove it.
