no, his handler was charles nelson (now, thanks to the marvels of plastic and sex-change surgery, bill o') reilly. Surely the Unknown Comic would have also had a role with the CIA. He would have been totally incognito without the bag.

That's him!
Did you ever see the Gong Show where every single act came out & sang "Feelings'? OMG just thnking about that show still cracks me up. My mother hated it, & would just keep saying "I don't know how you kids can stand that show" for the entire length of the show.

You can put this one with Brian Dennehy's "five-year tour in Vietnam". Although it is possible that the CIA or other agency requested information from Barris about his trips abroad (esp. if they were behind the Iron Curtain) as they did from thousands of businessmen, reporters, etc. during the cold war, perhaps on a long-term basis, and Chuckie has pumped this up in his little mind into a James Bond story. More likely, he was just putting people on.

the Unknown Comic I forgot all about him. I can hardly type for laughing so much!

I find this pretty hard to believe. He was sooo whacked on coke while doing that show that he couldn't possibly have functioned as an assasin.

I read the book and it was a fun read. There was one part about an Air France mid-air collision that was historically false and that falsehood raised some doubts in my mind about the veracity of other parts of his story. But it's such a fun read, it doesn't really matter if the CIA assasin parts are true or not.

"Decades before becoming a famous chef, she worked for the Office of Strategic Services. (The OSS was the predecessor to the CIA.) She was assigned to solve a problem for U.S. naval forces during World War II: Sharks would bump into explosives that were placed underwater, setting them off and warning the German U-boats they were intended to sink.
"So... Julia Child and a few of her male compatriots got together and literally cooked up a shark repellent," that was used to coat the explosives.

Did you ever see the Gong Show where every single act came out & sang "Feelings'? Yup - saw it! (I was in grammer school at the time, but I remember it.)
My father loved Gene. He cracked up every time he was on.

I believe Chuck Barris when he says he was a CIA assassin. But, what do you think about his claim? I will check back tomorrow. Happy New Year!
Pssst! Big Bird is also a CIA operative who has infiltrated PETA! You whisper a word of this to anyone and I will kill you!

"RW: You and I, talking about it, and working on it. People are realizing - look what we have lived through now - first of all, fifty years ago, the state of Israel was created. When I went to then-Palestine, and was a sniper - I never killed anybody but I myself was badly wounded - would I have thought that fifty years later I would celebrate the fifty years of Israel? Never. Would I have thought that the Berlin Wall would come tumbling down, that there is no more Russia, but only former Soviet Union?! So I am very much of an optimist."

Curse you, man! You stole my thunder...
I would only add that others in his training class at Langley included Paul Lynd, Rock Hudson and Liberace. They were collectively known as the 'Killer Queens.' No finer black-ops team was ever assembled in the free world, or the Eastern bloc for that matter.
Widely known for their stealth, cunning and mastery of the deadly Parisian technique of approaching the victim from behind, they usually fired from a kneeling position. Some, like Hudson, were also uncannily effective at maintaining deep cover identities intact and living behind the mask of assumed identity for years.
Yes, it is an incredible but true story and only now can the truth be told.
