Welcome! You seem like a very reasonable and polite individual.
What are your thoughts on the US-lead NATO intervention in Kosovo in the spring of 1999, especially in comparison to and in contrast with a potential Iraq intervention in 2003?
Looking forward to your reply.

If we had found them they wouldn't exist. You don't know that--but I can tell you that there are some unclassified technologies that can detect underground structures. Look up "earth-penetrating tomography."
We've seen signs of digging in certain places but we haven't identified their exact positions.
Kindly go back and reread this sentence until you can identify the logical contradiction in it.

Strange that we haven't heard from Jimmy Carter about the North Korean Crisis. He was quick enough to spout off about Iraq. Where is Mr. Peace Prize now?

Here's what would happen: 37,000 dead American troops and maybe a quarter million dead South Koreans. You do realize they have some 14,000 tubes of artillery trained on our positions, right?

Let Korea fight it out and the world will watch. Then the US will pick up the pieces as normal.

tick tock, its not 1950 any more. The South Korean Army is a really tough bunch and are more than able to stop any invasion. We all saw how tough a massive army replete with soviet armor did in 1991. If the crazy nit-wit goes nuclear, North Korea will become the worlds leading exporter of glass.

"Bush has not the will to take out the nuclear plant, instead Powell will talk them to death with appeasement." Say what?
(Oh my, after all these years cynicom - you're still - still continuing to show your putrid allegiance to the delusional liberal side. But then of course, don't let us stand in your way.)

Watch...
New kid on the block, and in over your head already. You will go far here on FR with personal diatribes. Keep it on the subject matter and I will respond, other than that, you have nothing to offer.

When China is involved, GWB seems to back down rather readily. Recall the Wang Wei ramming incident. where we apologized and paid a large sum for their "hospitality"? While Israel had the guts to take out the nuclear reactor that had them worried, I doubt that any US President could show the same courage and willpower.
(Heck, just listening to the way the NKorean leaders are talking, I'd be nervous to act, too. They are aggressively hyper-defensive, overly-sensitive, and eager to break every treaty they enter... this is not a stable bunch.)

I'm also at the tail end of the Baby Boomers but grew up during hard times for our family. Those hard times and 7 years in the Infantry made me what I am today.
Driven to a fault, Faith first, Family second, self last. It has also made me one of the most sucessfull people in my field. However, I do not see the same drive in my children and it worries me for I do no know how to instill that value in them.
The other thing that scares me is that most kids (sub 30) today are not willing to get dirty in a fight. I remember very clearly while I was stationed in Germany, that a one on one fist fight between an American and a German would almost ALWAYS result in an American win. This had to do with the fact that the Germans would quit after the first blood (bloody nose or lip) was drawn. All that would do to the Americans was p*ss them off and the real fighting would begin. I'm sad to say that the ability to reach down deap into that savage soul and do what ever it takes to win is not among our children today. Rather when we do see savage response, it is more out of anti-social, almost detached response and that is very concerning.
Another concerning issue is the wimpification of the American male. Napoleon lost on the fields of Eaton but with today's PCness, there are no fields of Eaton any more. Winners are not allowed to celebrate at football games because it might hurt the feelings of the loosers. Well I've lost at football and yes it did hurt my feelings, but it also gave me the drive to not loose again. A shame that those who are PC do not see beyond the first stage to learn the leason of the second.
