Assemblywoman Nicole Parra will be in Bakersfield today, flanked by the state Assembly speaker and her father, Pete Parra, a Kern County supervisor, for an event announcing her appointment as chairwoman of the Assembly Veterans Affairs Committee.
Parra said the appointment, which she learned of late last week, makes her one of just five Assembly freshmen to chair a committee.
The Democratic assemblywoman vowed to be "a fighter for veterans."
The 11 a.m. event, which is scheduled to include an appearance by Assembly Speaker Herb Wesson Jr., will take place at the Kern County Veterans' Service Department at 1120 Golden State Ave.
Since the Central Valley is home to some 225,000 veterans, or 12 percent of the state's veteran population -- with 55,000 of those in Kern County -- it's important that someone from the region chairs the committee, Parra said.
As committee chairwoman, Parra said she plans to make sure veterans have access to educational assistance, home loans, transportation and other services they're entitled to.
She also wants to ensure that two veterans homes planned for Fresno and Lancaster are built.
And in the wake of last year's terrorist attacks, Parra said, she hopes to keep Californians protected from further terrorism by making sure National Guard members receive necessary training.
Charles Bikakis, director of the Kern County Veterans' Service Department, said the appointment is a good sign for people who've served in the armed forces.
"We're hoping that she can help veterans with some of our issues," said Bikakis, who is also involved with a state organization that lobbies for veteran-oriented legislation. "It could be beneficial to have a friendly voice in that position. We're hoping Parra could either sponsor or support some of the legislative goals of our association."
The assemblywoman is also a member of four other committees that deal with agricultural, transportation, water and economic development issues.
NICOLE PARRA
R E S I G N N O W ! ! ! ! !
Over 1,000 documented cases of voter fraud (in Kern County alone) in the 30th District Assembly race. Grand jury investigating.
Nicole Parras father, Pete Parra, being investigated for using his cronies at the California Highway Patrol, and other venues, to assist his daughter in stealing this election.
Parra and the democrats spent almost two million dollars to steal this seat, while the GOP nominee, Dean Gardner and the GOP spent just over $200,000 - and yet Parra "won" by only 265 votes out of 50,000 cast. Parra is a cheater and should resign immediately.
The only reason Nicole Parra is serving in the State Assembly is because of voter fraud and dirty tricks. She can run but she cant hide. We will continue to expose her and demand her resignation. My friends and I brought down a sitting Congressman, Gary "condidit" Condit, and well bring Parra down, too. Its just a matter of time.
This flyer will be delivered to every State Assembly Member and State Senator. Stay tuned . . . . more to follow.

Voter fraud has always been the key to the democrat party's power, from Tammany Hall in the 1800's to Boss Predergast to Jim Crow laws to utterly corrupt modern DNC under the iron rule of the Clintons. Democrats have a perpetual stench and this weasel is particularly vile.
You got that right! She's real pretty and sexy and well connected. She used to work for Congress"man" Cal Dooley. God help us!!! These people have a lot of nerve. Spend TWO MILLION DOLLARS on a state assembly seat?! Stinks to high heaven!
Right you are. And why should we just roll over and act like nothing bad ever happened?! How much crap should we be expected to have shoved down our throats? This "woman" is going to be sorry she ever thought she could get away with this!!!!!! (And they don't call me "the destroyer" for nothing.) For victory & freedom!!!
It is time for a long series of "therapy sessions" with this vermin. She needs some reality testing.
Okie dokie. Let's roll!!!!!!!
Just picture this. First they discard about 1,500 military absentee votes (Lemoore Naval Air is in this district); then they appoint this person as Chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee! If it weren't so horrifying, it would be funny. We can't do one thing about the military ballots but we can expose her for documented voter fraud. She won by cheating!!!!!!! This is just the beginning!!! For victory & freedom!!!
