Yemeni officials said the suspect was an Islamist militant who told police after his arrest that he had shot the two men and two women to "cleanse his religion and get closer to Allah," according to Reuters.

The clerics, of any religion, are appointed by man, not God. The problems you have, are with men that say they are acting for God.
I especially have a problem with the clerics that promote the idea that "their god" says it's peachy to kill people. Or enslave or tax them if they do not "convert".

I agree, unfortunately, these things have been going on for a very long time.

From C.S. Lewis's
The Last Battle:
But I said, Alas, Lord, I am no son of Thine but the servant of Tash. He answered, Child, all the service thou has done to Tash, I account as service done to me. Then by reason of my great desire for wisdom and understanding, I overcame my fear and questioned the Glorious One and said, Lord, is it then true, as the Ape said, that thou and Tash are one? The Lion growled so that the earth shook (but his wrath was not against me) and said, It is false. Not because he and I are one, but because we are opposites. I take to me the services which thou hast done to him, for I and he are of such different kinds that no service which is vile can be done to me, and none which is not vile can be done to him. Therefore if a man swear by Tash and keep his oath for the oath's sake, it is by me that he has truly sworn, though he know it not, and it is I who reward him. And if any man do a cruelty in my name, then though he says the name Aslan, it is Tash whom he serves and by Tash his deed is accepted."

Not really. Look up "Allah on Yahoo." He was the Moon God. Saudi Arabia was the Land of Ur that Abraham came out of. Prior to Muhammed, the people of the land of Ur believed in several hundred "Gods", the most prominent being the Moon God. There was an unholy trinity, being the Moon God, the Sun Goddess and the child. Mecca was the place of the black stone, which was a pagan altar to the Moon God. Muhammed consolidated all of the Gods into one God, the Moon God. That is why the symbol for Islam is the crescent moon. Muhammed stole everything that he had from Judaism and Christianity. that is why some of the stories sound similar. Since Muhammed was an ignorant Beduoin, he forced 2 Rabbis to write the Koran. They intentionally screwed up some of the passages so that knowledgeable people would know. If you don't believe this, ask the first strong muslim believer that you encounter if he believes in the G-d of Jacob (Judaism) or the G-d of the Christians.

An interesting CS Lewis quote that I was not aware of.
Moses went into the desert and found G*d and received a law. Mohammed went into the desert found an entirely different being, the one who says kill others as a way to become holy... the one who commands- kill those who do good and return evil for good (the doctors killed in Yemen).

Revelation 9:11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon. ... and in the Arabic tongue hath his name Allah.

Islam teaches that Allah has no son. Jehovah says that he does, and that his son Jesus Christ, is God also.
Islam precludes itself from worshipping the one true God, Jehovah by it's denial of the attributes of God, and it's denial of Jesus Christ.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

So, yes, we believe in the same God. We just have different beliefs about what that God consists of (attributes, teachings, etc.) Umm. No we don't. Allah is the moon god not the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Psalm 66:18 If I regard iniquity(sin) in my heart, the Lord will not hear [me]:
I hope you've sought forgiveness for your sin first, the Bible does not teach that God will answer prayers of unbelievers unless it is a prayer of repentance or sorrow for sin.

These are all teachings of men, might be right, might be wrong. There are many beliefs.
