"as discredited as segregationist Republicans were during the civil-rights movement"
The Democrat Party historically and currently are the supporters of racial pre-judgement (prejudice) and separatism. For about four years there (1966 - 1970) they were actually for equality. But before then and ever since, they have been in favor of treating people differently on the basis of pigmentation.
Contrarywise, conservatives and the Republican Party have (virtually) always stood for equality among the races. This principled position makes us Politically Incorrect now, since we don't want to implement racist hiring policies (a.k.a. "Affirmative Action").
Classic examples are LBJ, one of the most racist Presidents ever, compared to any of the last five Republican Presidents.
Keep up the good work, VDH. But please steer clear of endorsing the lies of the left.
I remember the Civil Rights movement of the 1950s and 60s very well and I can't think of even one "segregationist" Republican from those days. Every one I recall violating the Constitution and supporting Jim Crow were all members in good standing of the Democrat party.
