Okay folks what is the timetable for war? Gasoline here in Cnetral Kentucky went up $0.20 per gallon since last night. Do the oil companies know something other than price gouging?

During Gulf War I, the 16 inch batteries on BB's had no trouble hitting specific motor vehicles.

That runs counter to what the good folk in ANGLICO have told me about their battleship experiences.

In 1981, during the reactivation cycle, a fairly dimwitted ordnance officer ordered all of the available powder blended into one common lot. The resulting variations in base velocity made any effort to predict impact point worthless.

The Navy solved this problem by using the ONE lot of powder that the dimwitted ordie missed.

Unfortunately, that lot ran out in 1991.

Usually takes about 10 days from the Mainland to the actual Persian Gulf.

Circle yer wagons SLB.....IMO Oil Companies have better intel than the Christians In Action sorts. All this saber rattling "and" price of oil going up that much in one night speaks volumes.

BTW does your state have a price gouging law ? .20 cents seems a bit of a hike in 24 hours ???

Stay Safe !!

Eight Battle Groups could deliver 1,500 cruise missles and 1,000 sorties in the first 6 hours.......and continue with another 1,000 sorties every 12 hours for the next 30 days.

Put 20 B-52's, 5 B2's and 30 B1's into the mix......flying from airfields in the region......and you could really ruin a country (or two) in a fairly short period of time.

You hit missle sites and strike aircraft first, move on to air defence.........then you let 'em have it.

How many GPS-guided GBU-28s would it take to shut Yongbyong down?

Looking at the satellite pictures of Yongbyong...2 GBU-28s, plus a B-2's worth of JDAMs.

Do we have enough B-2s for a follow-on strike?

Yes.

but China needs our money more than they need the N. Koreans

I beg to differ. China's menatlity--regardless of their addiction to their god of money--is to count money lower than pride. Also, they have a chunk of reserves built up and potential production capacity and economic power building in their minds.

Sure, they have a powerkeg of systemic problems--unemployment no small example.

But on the world state--especially in military matters--Pride would trump money any time, IMHO. And, they sort of view NK as a prodigy of theirs. To some degree, their pride would be hooked by our attacking NKorea. They may not be totally happy with NKorea. But NK is THEIR mad dog, thank you very much.

I doubt anyone, including Beijing, can accurately assess the relative ranks of the Chinese cultural/leadership/zeitgeist priorities.

But being incountry during Tienanmen, I'm convinced that pride trumps all other concerns when push comes to shove. Perhaps close to that and occasionally higher is fear of chaos. If you get pride and fear of chaos pulling in the same directions as at Tienanmen--it's a forgone conclusion.

But in terms of fearing 100's of millions of people dead, the Chinese probably consider that close to not at all. AS long as they are convinced they'll have enough left to rule the world, 100's of millions dead are quite acceptable to the rulers. Of course they don't expect to be among those dead. Though some would be glad to die for the motherland.

I haven't posted anything yet, quix, lol(neophyte here.) Most of the Ts(very cutsey Grandma/Mom style with hand painted butterflies etc.) have a hand painted anonymous homeschooler quote:

"It takes a village idiot to think I want the government to raise my child."

But I think I will start (as my part of the war effort) to develop some with Hitlary pictures under the word idiot if I can get the photo transfer paper to work on our printer.

My brother said he saw some in NJ that said "your village called, the idiot is missing."(put Hitlary's picture next) Can you imagine the effect if freepers started putting the verbal gems written here on everyday items...I know we all refer them in conversation but maybe we need bumperstickers, lol. Politics and whimsy work well together.

This is breaking news because the ship just returned from a 6-month deployment right before Christmas. This is a very unusual turnaround time.

This is not breaking news because on the day that the GW returned to Norfolk, the carrier group commander (Stuffelbeem?) said that they would be on 96 hour notice for redeployment.

No, I heard the interview. He said if necessary, they could do a turnaround in 96 hours if notified.

I think the State of the Union is Jan 28th, the day after Blix reports to the U.N.

It must have been one of the talking heads in the media twisting the 96 hour deployment.

The best bet would be the later date. It takes time to get ready for boots on the ground.
