I'd worry more about a Silkworm than a torpedo.

I think our strike on NK HAS TO BE

UNANNOUNCED, DEVASTATING to ALL significant MILITARY ARMS SITES/EQUIPMENT AND ALL AT THE SAME MOMENT.

Otherwise, SKorea is toast.

I'm going to email my friends there and get an update on the situation from their perspective. Done.

My question--CAN WE--DO WE HAVE THE CAPACITY TO DELIVER A DEVASTATING ENOUGH INITIAL STRIKE that "only" the bloodied partial ranks of their 'formerly' 1,000,000 army would be left to trouble SKorea???

North Korea weapons moved into the DMZ

Excuse me!???!!

NK is moving machine guns nests into the DMZ in violation of the Armistice from the Korean War.

There's really no "good" outcome except the survival of civilization. We hope that this could be quick and clean, but the fact is, if N. Korea is willing to throw open the doors to the Atomic Emporium and provide some terrorist with the gift that never stops taking, the whole world is in peril. Now, all the Iraq naysayers are going to have a tough time explaining how Iraq with a nuclear weapon is any less dangerous to America than N. Korea with a nuclear weapon. Ironically, Pyongyang made our case to the world for the war on Iraq... Now all the half-wits will continue to bend over backwards to villify the U.S.... Sigh.

"Now add the GW heading back.....we will have 5 carriers on station..."

Which 5 are over there, do you know? And where are the other 3? I presume we have something left in the Pacific fleet, to take care of North Korea...

Here's the list of our Nimitz Class Carriers:
USS Nimitz
USS Dwight D. Eisenhower
USS Carl Vinson
USS Theodore Roosevelt
USS Abraham Lincoln
USS George Washington
USS John C. Stennis
USS Harry S. Truman

During Gulf War I, the 16 inch batteries on BB's had no trouble hitting specific motor vehicles. The Wisconsin particularly could be made ready for service almost immediately.

The problem with would be the same as with any weapon newly put into service: training. Few sailors would be presently in service have battleship experience.

This will be over before we could activate the Wisconsin and then find enough crew to even man a BB without harming the effectiveness of other war ships.

We have the fire power to handle the job without the BB's.

B-52s, B-1Bs, F-15Cs and F-15Es are also on their way to the region. Rummy just signed the deployment orders and is also sending AWACs planes to the Gulf.

What a clever idea.

Then we'd be accused of sending poisoned dogmeat to NK.

Ah well, the world might be a better place with the smell gone.

If it's not too much trouble, can you give an idea what the Japanese/S. Korean newspapers are saying about the goings on with N. Korea? Also, I was wondering if the sentiment is one of appreciation/relief that the US military is there.

Thank you.
