Too late to organize this sort of thing but it would have been great fun if every Canadian gun-owner had waited until the last possible day and then shown up with all kinds of squirt-guns, glue-guns, toy guns, staple guns, grease-guns etc., anything but a real gun and insisted on either registering it or getting a notarized statement of exemption.
Drive of the cost of compliance and somebody in Ottawa might just re-think their position.

The cost of compliance has already been driven, and some in Ottawa are indeed rethinking their position. Specifically, their government position, which they might lose because of the cost overrun.
