Might it be possible to clone one's self, and transfer one's brain's memory lobes to the new him or her, and essentially continue living through the cloned version?

I rather like The 6th Day answer to this Q. ;-)

Wherever the memory "resides" it is co-resident with the structure of the brain

That is one of the models. There are others. At the moment there are problems with all the models except the 5-dimensional Akashic model. We don't have a well-developed 5-dimensional technology and so can't do anything with it, which may or may not be a problem depending on your politics.

For those who might claim it's immoral to pursue something like this, should Christopher Reeve be forced to accept his plight?

And what of Reeve's twin brother (the clone)? Should he be forced to accept his plight as a source of spare parts?

And they disregarded DNA, Sheck gave them an out. DNA evidence can be disputed.

And they disregarded DNA...

They disregarded DNA because they didn't trust the police who gathered it. Not long after the OJ trial there was a major scandal in the LAPD involving manufactured evidence.

Great our society has sunk to a low enough level without clones. God people we are just digging ourselves in deeper hole now huh. Whoever thought of this has severe issues! Considering that if you think of this whole "cloning" thing biblicaly these clones are technically not human although made from one. They were never concieved in a mothers womb therefore have no soul and with no soul they have no freewill which could lead to distuction of the human race if you keep going on thinking about it logically. I could go on forever. But i got to go head out.

That's right and these aliens will dispute unfriendly DNA findings for reasons most likely related to a perceived bias by the labs performing the tests. The statement was made that DNA would offer conclusive proof, I say that the aliens will argue with the inevitable non-proof or lack of proof. They don't need a PD scandal. If the DNA doesn't fit, they won't quit.

Hopefully it will be possible to clone a human to be born minus the cognitive capacities that make him or her human. Then the only human parts that will be shed will be the aged ones. Somehow I don't think Christopher Reeve will miss them much.

I do, but probably not of the kind you're thinking of.

what I meant by
>>>Whoever thought of this has severe issues! <<<

Is that simply whoever would have to audacity to try and duplicate another human and call it a child is obscene. And they must have severe problems within themselves.

i.e. the parts that would allow him or her to voice any objection towards being labeled "spare parts".

Does anyone doubt that this technology will succeed, even if not through Cloneaid's trials?

Larry Niven didn't.

I have extremely bad news for you.

You are going to die someday.

I hear the Russians are selling spots on spacecraft for a couple of million dollars. That would be your best bet.

And how do you rationally respond to those who suggest that the concept of a soul is more of a medieval creation?

By taking a simple, non-arrogant, leap of faith, ask God for His direction in your life and guide you appropriately after first recognizing and telling Him you accept His sacrifice for our sins in order to have a relationship with Him on His grounds. The soul exists, we all have one, and until the first death, we have an opportunity to have an eternal relationship with Him by those groundrules.

If one doesn't approach Him, then that's between that person and God. (BTW , not a good position to be in now and especially after one physically dies or upon the separation of the spirit from the body.)

I'm wondering what you find so outrageous about that particular question. It seemed like a good one to me.
