Skinny legs. You look as if you are about to tip over Linda with that awesome cake leading the way! You might want to consider invoking some balance into your awesome posts of dolls and things. I suggest that you might want to consider some of the works of Norman Rockwell! He was a genius when it came to expressing balance.

He is all about balance.

Look at the work. It is so clear!

THE YOUNG MARINE

The Young Marine

By Frank G. Gross I/ 3/ 7/USMC

The ballad below is in reference to the freezing bitter cold that the all troops suffered at the Chosin Reservoir

The road was long and freezing
in this cold and frosty scene
in the Korean War at the Reservoir
for this weary tried Marine

As his frozen feet would shuffle
and his purple toes were tapped
his naked face and burning skin
was wrinkled cracked and chapped

The stiffness of his moustache
his painful face would show
as the nasal drip had made a grip
from the chilling winds and snow

In the fear it could get colder
when the sun would chose to rest
he clinched his arms together
in the attempt to warm his chest

The stinging cold of numbness
as freezing sweat would rub
that changed to ice with in his boots
and on his hands beneath each glove<

A vapor cloud of warmness
from the puff of body breath
help to give resistance
of freezing half to death

The tremor of the snow and frost
a chilling winter scene
fell upon his cover
of his helmet brown and green

Conditions that turned to frost bite
a plague to soon unfold
as the blizzard snow and the enemy foe
had fortified their hold

A typhoon of freezing fury
with snow upon his back
as the lack of allowance
was throwing off balance
of aggression and blizzard attack

The infested Korean mountains
with a foe so sly and coy
in a mass atack their burpp guns crack
with the purpose to destroy

From the Oriental proverb
the Chinese troops all know
when the young Marine at the
Chosin Scene
spoke their words Gung Ho

For the term means work together
with siprit and with pride
as the army and ally nations
were ffighting by his side

For this Marine Corps Band of Brothers
speak not of retreat
as they walk into the jaws of death
and carry out the teeth!

TOMMY
by Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936)

I went into a public-'ouse to get a pint o' beer,
The publican 'e up an' sez, "We serve no red-coats here."
The girls be'ind the bar they laughed an' giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an' to myself sez I:
O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, go away";
But it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play,
The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
O it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play.

I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
They gave a drunk civilian room, but 'adn't none for me;
They sent me to the gallery or round the music-'alls,
But when it comes to fightin', Lord! they'll shove me in the stalls!
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, wait outside";
But it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide,
The troopship's on the tide, my boys, the troopship's on the tide,
O it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide.

Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an' they're starvation cheap;
An' hustlin' drunken soldiers when they're goin' large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin' in full kit.
Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, 'ow's yer soul?"
But it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll,
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll.

We aren't no thin red 'eroes, nor we aren't no blackguards too,
But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
An' if sometimes our conduck isn't all your fancy paints,
Why, single men in barricks don't grow into plaster saints;
While it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, fall be'ind",
But it's "Please to walk in front, sir", when there's trouble in the wind,
There's trouble in the wind, my boys, there's trouble in the wind,
O it's "Please to walk in front, sir", when there's trouble in the wind.

You talk o' better food for us, an' schools, an' fires, an' all:
We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
An' Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool -- you bet that Tommy sees!

Korean War resentment still lingers

From CNN Beijing Bureau Chief Jaime FlorCruz Tuesday, October 1, 2002 Posted: 10:49 AM HKT (0249 GMT)

Resentment against the U.S. dates back to the 1950-53 Korean War

SINUIJU, North Korea (CNN) -- A painting on the wall of a school in Pyongyang shows a U.S. soldier captured during the Korean War. In a shoe factory in Sinuiju, another poster depicts an attack on the United States.

These are a few signs of the deep resentment toward America in North Korea.

Some of Pyongyang's policies may be loosening up, but on the ground, personality cult and hostility to the U.S. persists tenaciously.

Mere mention of the United States triggers passionate rant.

"During the Korean War in 1950, they came to Korea and murdered a lot of our people. So we Korean people consider American imperialists as our sworn enemy. Even now they still don't want to trade with us," Chang Kum Suk, the director of the Peony Peak Garment Factory, says.

On behalf of Army veteran Ted Maher and his friends at Free Republic, God Bless our troops, veterans and their families.

I have forwarded the call to DC on the 18th to many.

Was last there when the new USNA graduate took us old people to the incredibly moving monuments.

He simply parked his jeep and we were there.

Which Senator or Congressman is going to stand with these veterans?

McCain? Hagel? Duncan Hunter? What could that legislator do to help?

Israel Today - December 27, 2002 - 22 Tevet, 5763

After a brief Christmas pullback, the Israeli army has returned to Bethlehem and imposed a curfew. Jeeps patrolled the streets and Palestinian residents were ordered to return to their homes. Israeli officials said the curfew was imposed because terrorists in the Bethlehem area are planning attacks. Israel reoccupied Bethlehem a month ago, after a suicide bomber blew up a bus here in Jerusalem killing 11 passengers, including children on their way to school.

The Bethlehem incursion followed a series of incidents, in which six armed Palestinians were killed by Israeli troops. Two bystanders were also killed. This morning, soldiers found the body of a gunman from the Islamic terrorist group Hamas who was shot dead near a Jewish settlement in the Gaza Strip. The army said troops spotted the man as he was planting explosives.

Earlier, Israeli undercover troops killed a wanted Hamas terrorist in Ramallah. The army said troops tried to detain two wanted men in a car when one of them opened fire. "The force returned fire and killed him," an army spokesman said. The second fugitive was arrested. In Nablus, two Palestinian gunmen were killed. And in Tulkarem, an Israeli undercover unit killed a member of the notorious al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, a militia linked to Yasser Arafat`s Fatah faction. As we reported yesterday, an Islamic Jihad terrorist was also killed in the town of Kabatiya near Nablus.

The army described the spate of shootings as "counter-terrorism operations." But Palestinians accused Prime Minister Ariel Sharon of trying to win votes ahead of elections next month. "The escalation of violence by Sharon is aimed at creating a volatile atmosphere which he believes will serve him in his election campaign," said Palestinian Cabinet Minister Yasser Abed Rabbo.

Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz is trying to ease fears concerning the possibility of a coming war with Iraq.” The nation has been bombarded by media reports of an impending conflict, possibly involving non-conventional weapons. “From a knowledge of the facts, I say there is no reason for the citizens of Israel to lose any sleep,” Mofaz said. “The army and security services are prepared to face any possible eventuality. Israel is better prepared than any other country to face any developments.”
