Spielberg Blasts Scouts Again over New Religious Rules

Moviemaker Steven Spielberg has further distanced himself from America's Boy Scouts because the organization has started banning atheists. The director used to be a leading scout celebrity advocate until new anti-gay laws turned him against the organization, and now he's furious with scouting leaders for adding more red tape. He says, "There is a movement inside the Boy Scouts now to stop kids from joining who are atheists, because of once again a couple of words in the Boy Scout motto, which I think is a tragedy. I resigned from the Boy Scouts because they excluded gays from scouting. They didn't when I was a kid but now I kept thinking they're following an armed forces policy about gays in the military, and I just think it's a terrible tragedy. It's robbing so many young creative kids of things that I was able to achieve by being a boy scout - making a home movie for the photography merit badge and getting bit by the bug and the boy scouts giving me my start. I credit them for giving me my start, but I couldn't abide by their rules and I had to say something and leave."

That's strange. My son is in Scouts and they never asked about religious affiliation.

Little Stevie was recently in that wonderful paradise, loved by many of the Hollywood "elite," known as Cuba.

The director used to be a leading scout celebrity advocate until new anti-gay laws turned him against the organizationThat is pure BS.
The Scouts have always had 3 simple criteria for membership:
- you have to believe in a higher power (e.g. God)
- you cannot be a convicted felon
- you cannot be homosexual (i.e. no gays get to take little boys into the woods. Sorry)
This did not change recently. It's just recently that it because a fashionable celebrity cause.

So, Spielberg is cool with having some guys johnson up his backside or in his mouth as long as the guy does not start praying?
I suppose Spielberg is working on a movie about gay atheists? No? Because nobody would care to go see it? Oh....

Who cares what Speilberg says? He obviously has no regard for God and morality. The BSA is better off without him.

Methinks the scouts are better off for the loss. Who would have thought the Boy Scouts of America would ever be thought of as a hate group by anyone.

I've been a Spielberg fan for a while, but
Saving Private Ryan was his last great work, and now it's just crap like
Minority Report and the laughably unwatchable
A.I.Phew, what a pair of stinkers.

Speilberg loves the soldiers of WW2 as long as they were killing Nazis
His treatment of those who fought and fight his fellow commies isnt quite as redeeming..imo
His latest dribbletude "Taken" had at least one episode where a returned Vietnam combat vet and his Lieutenant were shooting heroine...
What flocking jerks Schpeilberg and his ilk are...been using Vietnam vets as their foils ever since they literaly spit on them as they returned from SouthEast Asia..they still love to spit on Vietnam vets...and get paid big bucks for doing so...

Did he also resign from the Football team?
God save us from the 90210 World he comes from.

I'm sure Spielberg would prefer a scouting organization that more resembled Cuba's Young Pioneers.

He and Hanks have milked them for every dollar to the point that Hollywood needs to pay for a WWII memorial -as if we needed one. The world post 1945 is a landmark and the creation of the American GI, thank you but no thanks Stevie.

I watched some of Taken, in order to see the trailers for the upcoming Children of Dune miniseries, and noticed that it seemed that hardly any of the military characters had any redeeming qualities.

Yes indeed. Then there was the cookie who stalked Spielberg. He, as you no doubt heard, had all the "tools" of a rape and an abduction.
Even I, though hard on that type of thing, was somewhat surprised at the perps sentence. I believe it was 14 years. He admitted he wanted to rape Stevie baby. Sort of NIMBY, says Stevie, I guess.
