Call me a commie, but I don't think she said anything especially awful. This all seems like a bunch of conservatives looking for an excuse to attack a comment which was, at worst, injudiciously phrased. Saying she's hailing Bin Laden seems kinda silly to me.

"I am astonished the Republican Party would try to spin out of control a conversation with high school students," she said. "Republicans have been trying for six months to use the war on terrorism for political purposes."She sounds like Hillary.

"Having a challenging and thoughtful discussion about America's future reflects the best values of a free democracy," she said Lefty spin. Instead of supporting her arguments, she represents criticism as censorship, and challenges to her views are unthoughtful.
This is a standard tactic deployed. Typically when challenged they claim that "dissent" is being "censored". Of course, it's their only hope. What, they're going to admit that they're wrong?

Grief? This piece of democrat excrement could call all the little pickenenies the N word and the liberal democrat laden press would give her a pass. This lady should be run out on a rail, what she said is far worse than what Trent Lott supposedly said; this lady offended all Americans and she is in the Senate. The families of the 3000+ that died should scream that they have been offended but since New York is the bastion of liberal democrats I doubt it.

But Matthew Felling, media director for the Center for Media and Public Affairs in Washington, D.C., thinks Murray's remarks are not getting attention because they largely were correct.

Murray, in a telephone interview, said she was shocked by the Republican response to what she considered a free-ranging discussion that represented one of the best American values - freedom of thought. Well, Patty, you and your Dem friends didn't give Trent Lott the courtesy, so why should you get a pass?

The guy substituting for Lars Larson said that he'd like to see Senator Murray discuss this with bin Laden...his response would be "Shut up, woman."

"Murray, in a telephone interview, said she was shocked by the Republican response to what she considered a free-ranging discussion that represented one of the best American values - freedom of thought."Oh yes, freedom of thought. I wonder if Ms. Murray applied the same standard to Trent Lott recently.

Not to be critical but shouldn't this headline read.
Patty Murray's Bin Laden remarks give Americans grief....
This twit does not seem to have the ability to have grief, if she did, she would not suggest to the 2004 new voters that OBL was a good guy. Face of 2004 campagin, OBL is just a good guy say Democrat Senator, make every presidential candidate defend her over and over and over again. OBL look alikes everywhere they turn. Ask the junior senator from New York, "Do you agree with Patty"? After all Ms. Patty was the face of the democrat senatorial election 2002, that makes her the face of the senate democrats.

E-mailed my Republican senator about getting some kind of condemnation of Patticakes up on his web site. He sure was quick to condemn Lott and ask him to step down. I plan more e-mails to him till his does something.

I'm afraid "tennis shoes" Murray is completely unencumbered with the thought process, anyway.
