Should Sen. Patty Murray Apologise? You Decide!
Vote.com ^ | 23/12/2002 | Vote.com

Pro:

Rep. George Nethercutt (R-WA) was disgusted by Murray's words. "It borders on negligence. It borders on misinformation. It borders on a lack of sensitivity of the state of the world that surprises me of a United States senator," he told the Seattle Times.

Con:

Murray explained her comments: "While we continue to search every corner of the globe to destroy Osama bin Laden... should we also consider the longer-term issue of what else can be done to improve relations with all nations including the Arab world?"

Vote.com will send your vote to Senator Patty Murray

Of course Patty Murray should apologize -- for whatever that's worth, but I don't think she should be forced to resign from the Senate. That would set a dangerous precedent.

Like it or not, we still have the First Amendment. Anyone can say anything he likes, as long as it doesn't cause direct harm (like yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater).

Congress is a Theater of Ideas if you will. We can't let ourselves get into the business of suppressing ideas and opinion -- no matter how absurd and disagreeable -- and remain a free people.

If everyone who made stupid remarks and favored ideas not in the best interests of this country were forced to resign from the government, Washington would turn into a ghost town overnight.

If everyone would just stop trying to MANIPULATE the outcome of every political decision and agree to let the chips fall where they may, I have a feeling we'd be very pleased with the results.

Now, just for the sake of curiousity - what kind of sick, twisted, perverse mind would even consider wearing wool socks in Florida????

That, my friends, is the sickest thing I ever heard of... ;0)

This woman makes me ashamed to admit I live in Washington. She's as dumb as a bag of hammers.

Bump To The Top

It's an old FReeperism that refers to "bumping" a thread so that it shows up on the "Latest Posts" page.

"It's a battle for the hearts and minds of these people, we have to make them like us more than Bin Laden, and when Bin Laden is building them hospitals and 'schools' (and I use that term very liberally) it will be awfully difficult to convince them Bin Laden is anything other than a great guy."

Are you saying it is ok to kill people if they do not do as much for you as someone else? That is a pathetic arguement. The Federal Government has not done near as much for me as my parents have and I do not go out and try to kill any of them. I do try to vote them out of office though.

Try your moral equivalancy at DU. They may buy what you are selling. I won't.

When did I say that gives them the right to kill anyone?

Unfortunetly I was banned from DU some time ago
